A friend of mine did flowers and fairies on the walls for her DD. (she
hired an art student from the local university to do the murals) I made her
a doll from this link: http://wwvisions.com/newsletter/jan_feb99/doll.html
I got a bag of silk flower "remnants" (that's what they call it when the
petals fall off some of them at Wal-Mart lol) And I also got a "silk"
butterfly at Wal-Mart. I used the flowers to make her skirt as described in
the pattern. Then I used the wings from the butterfly for her wings rather
than the kind they talk about. Turned out really cute. She's not a "play
with" doll. But I meant for them to hang her from the ceiling fan anyway.
I thought that would be cute, it would look like she was flying. ;)
Thought you might like that pattern. Great job on her room. It's gorgeous!

Great idea, but I think I expended my creative juices with the room....
Since I'm a Barbie collector (have been since age 5), I talked to DH
about getting the Barbie Fairires...so, yes, I've already used my
daughter as an excuse to get more Barbie Dolls. I have the pink, blue,
and purple Barbies, and 3 "Kelly and Friends" fairies (they are smaller
ones). I just discovered yesterday that there are 3 more Barbie Fairies
on the market...different colors, and they even have their own NAMES!!!!
However, I think that would be overkill.....will have to see if they
are still around during the holiday sales...lol

Larisa, did you paint the mural? It's beautiful! I love to paint murals
and have done several for churches. Is it acrylic? Did you seal it with
anything?
Did you freehand draw it on the wall or use a projector? I always draw mine
on paper, copy on to transparencies, then use an overhead projector. They
tend to get a little out of proportion using a projector. My sister has
painted lots of murals for lots of schools and just does them freehand.
I've also wondered about painting over murals in the future, if that's
difficult or not. I've wanted to paint some murals in my own home but have
been hesitant for that reason.
Anyway, great job!

It's done with craft paints from JoAnns...well, the trees are brown
latex paint (from the Disney collection at hOme Depot) with the craft
paint over it. The walls and ceiling are all base-coated in regular
latex paints. CLouds (in the forthcoming pictures) are stencil paint.
The grass, flowers, leaves..regular old craft paint....some leaves are
from "oops" paint at HD...$1/qt!!! Not sealed with anything....trying
to decide how to go about that since we are having rainrainrainrain

Everything is freehand....first time I've ever tried this.....it took me
31 years to be able to draw a silly tree!! Well...the fairies are from
Wallies...not that creative, I don't think. I was going to use an
overhead projector (our pastor's wife uses one to decorate the childrens
rooms) and get her advice on it since she has done it for 3 children -
with a 4th on the way. But then I figured I'd just try it on my
own....didn't turn out too bad, huh?? LOL

As for painting over it....couldn't tell you. This is the first time i
have done this. If I can't scrub it off (should Rebekah decide that she
doesn't like it) I'll just put a coat of primer over everything and
staret from scratch (had thought i would have to do it with this
decor...wasn't 100% sure that it would turn out)
