$40 would be on the low side of average -- cost of dinner for 2 at an
inexpensive restaurant (including appetizer and dessert, not including
wine).
$40 is roughly ten fast food value-meals.
If $40 causes this much hardship, then I would suggest that your
problems are likely beyond the scope of the book.

My books are free, as is Formhandle's site and a number of other good
resources, if "zero" is your price limitation.

The price of a book has nothing to do with its quality one way or another, and
even if someone is rich, whether or not to spend money on anything is a
decision they often make carefully.
Why not point this man to all the wonderful free information on the web
(including the DYD newsletter and Ross's and the other sites) instead of
getting into issues of personal money management?

Many banks now allow you to purchase "stored value" Mastercards, which
you can use just like a credit card to make purchases online without
having to apply for a credit card. A fee (around 2%) is charged when
loading the card with funds. These cards aren't reported to the credit
bureaus, though, since they aren't lines of credit.
I know Bank of America sells them. Also, a bank in Utah offers a stored
value card called the Liquid Card (with a monthly fee, but they'll
report to the credit bureaus if you really want that sort of thing)

He said "I have no money." Specifically, that he doesn't have (and
likely will not have in the near future) $40 of disposable income.
Thus, he likely has problems beyond the scope of a book designed to
increase your contact with women.
He wants the information because of the publicity and endorsements that
have been given to it (Including your implied endorsement of the
product). He just wants it for free.
He also is coming from a desperate point of view: "I still need to meet
chicks," followed by three frowning faces (or two left handed smiley
faces, and an additional one severed in two depending on your point of
view).

I figured you would objectively point him to *all* the free materials
available on the web, since you became so altruistic all of a sudden.

And remember it is free to talk to chicks and analyze your sucesses and
failures, that is a great way to learn. And if you read and comprehend the
above sites before you talk to this chicks there will probably be some
poon-tang pie involved :)
