As I type this, the mASF forum (45,000+ on-topic articles in the past year) is being archived into the main ASF archive database on the FS101 site. Articles older than 2 months on the live mASF forum will be auto-expired once per day after the archiving is finished. Old articles will be available and searchable in the main ASF archive searchable database.
That will pretty much completes the transition from ASF->mASF that started 1 year ago and, with the enormous amount of crap here, there's no more need to archive the public ASF. So, as of today, posts from ASF will no longer be archived onto FS101, only posts from mASF.
After the merge & taking some time to clean up the databases, the total available articles in the main archive will total more than 180,000.
The purpose of the new archiving/expiring is to:
- Improve mASF access speeds through the web & NNTP interfaces. - Allow more extensive/sophisticated searches on mASF posts. - Reduce server bottlenecks during scheduled article re-indexing.
An addition to the archiving/expiring, the web server software has been upgraded and the backend scripting engine for the site has been upgraded. The page-loading performance from those upgrades seems to be about 2-3x. The previous hardware upgrade last week also improved page-loading performance 4-5x.
Once the server updates are wrapped up today, the overall performance improvement for the FS101 site (as well as Maniac's site) will be improved by 10-12x and reliability (uptime) will be close to 100%. Further performance improvements can be made over time... in the next 1-2 weeks, the server will also be moved into a co-location facility with a much improved Internet connection speed so people with faster connections (DSL, cable, T1) will benefit even more.

- Ray Gordon is banned from access to mASF, so are discussions about him or even remotely about him. The couple times he's tried to infiltrate, he's quickly been removed. - Trolls are ass-kicked quickly, if they even bother to appear at all, which is rare. - Slightly off-topic posts are marked as OT by members - this rule has been working very well. - Highly off-topic and useless posts are removed. - The forum is 100% spam free. - The forum is accessible using a web browser, newsreader, *and* via e-mail (all synchronized). - The forum is searchable; all new posts are searchable within 24 hours. All posts are also searchable in the main ASF archive at http://www.fastseduction.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi - The forum is broken up into multiple primnary topics (general, fieldreports, tactics-techniques, advanced, sex) - There's also a female-centric board (playettes) so that chicks can focus their own discussions there so the rest of the forum doesn't get disrupted (they can discuss their side of PU, offer up their thoughts on seduction, and also bi-sexuality & PUing chicks from a chick perspective) - The server now has an uptime of better than 99%, and recent hardware and software improvements have made accessing it blazingly fast. - Cross-posts are IMPOSSIBLE when accessing mASF through a newsreader since it sits on a server that isn't synchronized with the rest of USENet.
