I can not just walk up to a girl and start talking. Am I being silly
here. I would love to be able to do it. Is that what you all do? Do
you go to clubs to find chicks? In other words how do I start?
I can not find any information about this. If I should just get over
my fear and go talk, please let me know. Any tips?

It's called "breaking the ice." The idea is that two strangers might be
interested in talking to each other, but unless one takes the first
step, they will continue to be strangers.
Just because a woman you see on the street, on the bus, in the mall
doesn't break the ice with you first doesn't mean she has no desire to
chat. The biggest issue women have with strange men is a fear of
rape or physical harm. So your first goal is simply to prove to her
that you're not going to hurt her. Some women are extremely shy,
over-cautious, or simply unwilling to talk to strangers, no matter what
you do, but many women are eager to talk once you break the ice. It's
a numbers game.
How to do it? TRY IT! Go out and start experimenting. Crash and burn,
see what happens. Expect you'll fail sometimes, but you'll probably
get some conversations going too. I was surprised how many women
warmed right up to me when I broke the ice with them. I use stuff in
the environment around me, the weather, the time - anything. Stop
wearing a watch so you can ask a woman what time it is. Ask
directions. "Isn't there a bookstore up this way?" It doesn't really
matter what you say. Mostly you're tone, facial expression, and body
language will be enough to convince her you not a psycho (unless, uh,
you happen to come off like a psycho!).
The other night I was talking down the street when I spied a cute
blonde crossing the street behind me walking (fast) in my
direction. It might have scared her to stop and wait, so I slowed down
and let her catch up. As she was almost even with me, a cop parked his
car and got out ahead of us. I used that to break the ice. "Oh, he's
going to bust some heads, eh?" That's all it took. Soon she was asking
_me_ about _my_ day, where I was headed, etc. Once you start doing it,
you'll be amazed at how even the hottest women you meet in public will
talk to you if you simply break the ice.

Then, once you can talk to women you can pickup anywhere. Lots of guys
like clubs, but Ross Jeffries advice is to meet them where they feed
their faces:

Go to your local Public or University Library and look up one of two books:
Your Perfect Right,
or,
Stand Up, Speak Out, Talk Back.
They're pretty much the same EXACT book, same authors, the latter is the newer
version and the one that helped me the most. They really helped- two weeks
before reading I couldn't look someone in the eye, then a week after reading
I'm starting conversations and leading. READ THE BOOK before you do anything
else; if it helps you half as much as it did me, you've got it made.

As an addition, I have found that persistence really does pay. I catch the
bus into work every day (and home again) and by virtue of the fact that I
live in a young trendy part of Sydney and work in the CBD, both buses are
invariably packed full of HBs.. now I agree that often all you need to do is
break the ice, but also don't be put off by a first "negative" or
"non-positive" response. I have noticed that if an HB seems disinterested in
the first thing I say, and I push on instead of giving up (and thinking
"What a stuck up bitch") I am often pleasantly suprised. Sometimes they will
smile politely or seem to ignore the first few things you say, and you just
keep on saying small things and eventually "BAM" you hit something that gets
their interest and they start talking from there.. in a nutshell, if at
first you fail, try try again!
Don't be discouraged by an inital negative response.. maybe she didn't hear
you.. maybe what you said actually sounded pretty stupid (I do this often)..
but act at first as if you didn't pick up her negative response and keep
plugging away. Worst case she will continue to be a bitch, and you think
"what a bitch" and get on with your life. Best case you strike a chord and
she just **has** to start talking to you (chicks love to talk.. they talk
incessently all the fucking time ..) and you end up fucking her and her
sister on the back seat of the bus (hey, this is **BEST** case)..

Do a search for Svengali on www.fastseduction.com
Find his challenge, where he asks people to just say "hi" to women.
That's all you need, IMO. Once you break through that barrier, you'll
realize the barrier only existed in your own mind anyway.
