You had over 10 years to do this kind of stuff and the only reason you
are doing it now is due to your current situation.
Besides that he's Canadian and they don't believe in holidays...or
good hygiene
RHC: Hmmm....odd thing to say. What draws you to the conclusion that a
whole nation of people don't believe in hygiene or holidays. We don't
live in igloos anymore and we all have indoor plumbing now, so bathing
and other strange rituals like that are common practice.
We also see tolerance and forgiveness towards others as a positive
thing regardless of past history.
I'ts a bit early on New Years Eve to be hitting the sauce that hard
isn't it.....
No problem.. keep it with you, it will be bury soon..
>No problem.. keep it with you, it will be bury soon..
Karma is a bitch, Pete.
It's called a joke
You should direct that to your buddy
Yup, he got so much bad Karma that I just cant see what else to say to him..
You should have pointed that they also lack a sense of humour, but that was
obvious ;-)
By the way, I am not Canadian, I am Quebecois! sti!
RHC: Right ! Since when is Quebec not part of Canada. Only in the
minds of separatists, who almost broke this country up a decade or so
ago. However, democracy prevailed and the majority of sensible
thinking people in Quebec voted to stay in Canada.
Today, a separatist is as antique and outdated as the politics of
yesteryear.
You may be Quebecois, but you sure as hell are part of Canada, like it
or not....
What was it you said a few posts back? Oh, yes:
"

RHC
RHC: Nice touch....as usual throwing useless barbs instead of
contributing ! You don't know our history...hell, you likely know
little of your own, and yet you criticize me....!!
They almost broke up this country because of their separatist bullshit
and many in Quebec still keep at it. Many of my countrymen outside
Quebec wouldn't mind frankly if they did break away. Many are
supremely tired of the government giving Quebec special privileges.
We could all just sit there and watch their economy go to hell, and
other than the damage it would cause to the rest of the country, there
would be little weeping. Personally, I don't feel that way; never
have, but I lose patience at these separatist dinosaurs who continue
to believe they are not part of our country. The culture of the
"quebecois" as they see themselves is a fine one, and one that should
be embraced as part of our country's rich diversity, but WITHIN
Canada, not as a separate country.
So tolerance yes, but with some practical limits......
If you would REALLY know your history, you know that there was a
confederation of two founding group, but it all came down to one province of
10 other , so mathematicaly it was supposed to be 1 of 2 or 1/2 and its now
1 of 10 plus the territories so 1/13.. just great!!

Keep on the good work, with such good friends as you, the country will break
up ;-)
> So tolerance yes, but with some practical limits......
limits!! what damn limits?? ;-)
So...then you meant tolerant of some. Eh?
RHC: You don't read very well, or do you just have trouble
understanding plain English.
Canada is a true multicultural society and Quebec is very much a part
of it in spite of what separatists in Quebec would like to believe.
But having tolerance for those who would break up our country (even
while we embrace their culture) would be on the same level as having
tolerance for terrorism and those who blew up the twin towers. There
is a huge difference between having respect for the cultural
differences in a society, and tolerating those who would destroy it.
If you don't see that....well....nuff said...
I read just fine. Once again, you are embarrased at being challenged on your
own hypocritical pontifications, but lack the character to admit it.
And if you really believe that tolerance of people with differng political
or cultural beliefs in your own country is the same as being tolerant of a
mortal enemy intent on killing as many of you as possible, then you are a
much bigger fool than I thought.
RHC: You really can't read ! That is not what I said; not even
close ! I don't for a moment believe that, nor do you. How the hell do
you get that comparison out of this thread. Read the posts with your
eyes open and your brain out of neutral this time.....
Um, well here's what you wrote:
"But having tolerance for those who would break up our country (even
while we embrace their culture) would be on the same level as having
tolerance for terrorism and those who blew up the twin towers."
Did I read that right?

<sigh> This thread started by RLB reaching out to one of his
detractors with the "olive branch". And as usual it degraded into the
usual infighting between our little group of misfits.
I was seriously hoping "we" could make ASA a better, kinder, place
this year. I see that's not going to happen.
(this is not directed solely at you Bob, you just happened to be the
last one to post)
And Pete... the Karma thing is real. Given your family medical
history, it would behoove you to err on side of caution. RLB has
never done anything to you in real-life. If myself, Frank, Jim, and
Tom all found a way to make nice with him I'm sure you can too.
RHC: Yeah, except you left out the last part which puts it in the
proper context...."there is a huge difference between having respect
for the cultural differences in a society and tolerating those who
would destroy it".
The sentence you picked up on (in plain English so you can understand
it) means I would no more tolerate the extremism of Quebec separation
than I would the extremism of people who would destroy our countries
by other violent means. THAT is the point of that post.
Going back to the original strain of this thread, I respect the
distinct Quebecois culture within Quebec, and value it as an important
part of our overall Canadian culture, but I'm not going to stand still
for the extremist, separatist part of their culture which almost broke
up Canada a decade or so ago. Just as terrorism today is trying to
destroy the fabric of our two democracies, so too did the separatists
try to destroy our country back then. The difference was, they didn't
do it with bombs; they tried to do it by turning a manipulated free
vote into a majority vote, which would have automatically ripped the
Province out of Confederation, and formed another country. Using the
"system" against you can be just as deadly as any bombs or bullets,
and has a far greater chance of actually succeeding too....
Sometimes I think you pick apart things people say, and take parts of
what's said out of context, just to be a shit disturber.....
RHC: You're right ! Here I am letting this thread degenerate into the
usual pissing contest. It's just that Jack gets my goat with his
picking apart every little thing that is said and proceeding to take
what he chooses of it out of context...
My apologies to the group....I'll play nice too.
No the thread started with RLB making a phony effort to look like he's
reaching out to one of his detractors, notice he went after a minor
player and not someone like say Doug or Alarman.
Did you really sigh there or is that a fake sigh?
> I was seriously hoping "we" could make ASA a better, kinder, place
> this year. I see that's not going to happen.
It will when RLB no longer comes around and Canadians begin practicing
good hygiene
> And Pete... the Karma thing is real.
No it isn't, just because someone has lung cancer doesn't mean I will
contract it by slamming him

You can be as nice as you want he's still the same old RLB.
> Sometimes I think you pick apart things people say, and take parts of
> what's said out of context, just to be a shit disturber.....
You have a lot of qualities of an American politician.
Long winded, with an unorthodox fiscal policy, and in the habit of saying
something, then claiming to have meant something completely the opposite.
Keep your goat. I have plenty already.
It's Pete's choice. I may be leaving this world soon and I want to at
least try to make things right with anyone I may have offended. I
don't think I've ever done anything bad to Pete -- just argued with
him online and been my usual, somewhat caustic self in the process.
If he decides to play nice that's good. If not it's not on my head.
The doctors say it's a matter of a few months now, but I don't really
feel as bad as they say I should at this point. I may surprise them
yet. I'm at peace with God about dying though of course I'd rather
wait a little longer -- say 30-40 years.
Meanwhile, I'm thankful that most of you guys have chosen to be kind
or at least neutral. Know this much, please. Much as we disagree on
business matters, I wish all of you good success not just for the new
year but for life. If any of you ever do show up I haven't lost my
touch on the grill you know. :^)
Sincerely,
Robert
I couldn't be more honest when I say I believe you are either mildly
retarded puckhead, and employed by a relative out of sympathy, or
you're just a 3rd world troll who should take lessons from BoPaul.
So tell me, are you known as Petey Boy amongst the kinfolk?
RHC: I have every intention to try to make it down to Florida and over
to your place. The only hangups are the dates for starting treatment
for my own prostate cancer and several other serious matters up in the
air right now, any of which may well keep me in Canada this winter.
I don't know what else to say to respond to your words other than to
say that those who would continue to hold grudges are the real losers
Bob. Continuing to do so says far more about them than about you.
God be with you and please keep us posted.

Do you have enough wet wipes for the day? Cleaning the mess from your son

I don't recall ever having said anything about Pete's parents. Sometimes I've
made caustic comments in general about "heritage," implying the use of the "B"
word. But I don't directly attack anyone's parents. If I did that, I sincerely
apologize to Pete for it.

If death were to be determined on how big of a jerk someone is then
it's safe to say you would have died at the sperm stage, somewhere
along your mother's taint. You know the taint.... taint the
ass....taint the twat.... it's the spot in between.
> now is it clear enough or do I have to speak like if you were 5 years old? <
I'll give you a dollar if you can count to five.
You are angry because your Mom, who was probably a wonderful perosn (no sarcasm,
I'm sure she was great) passed away and you're afraid that I will live. Well,
be at peace, Pete. All my doctors and even the oncology and hospice staff say
the same thing. I'm dying. They guess about 3 more months minimum now but they
keep extending that. They're probably right in the long run. The tumors are
spreading to new areas and the ones I already have are growing.
I could go on like this for some time it seems. No one is sure because
practically no one (not sure if there is one person or no one at this point)
with this type of metastasis has lived this long before. I'm not looking for
pity. I just want to make peace with those around me. If it makes you feel
better to keep on hating me for some imagined slight, so be it. That's on your
head -- not mine.

The story of Scrooge is one of a bad person seeing the error of his
ways, making amends and living out the rest of his years as a better person.
If you believe that people are only what they used to be and cannot
change then that is more on you than on the other person.
I don't believe it is hypocritical to try being a better person
regardless of the impetus, if the change comes from the heart - which I
believe to be the case here.
Now me - I'm still a miserable, cynical bastard who is also simple and
direct. So I call 'em like I see 'em. Sometimes my vision is 20/20,
sometimes not.
I'm not trying to start crap, I just believe that people can have an
honest change of heart, for lesser reasons than Robert has.

I hope the doctors are wrong Robert, and you get that 30-40 years.

It was a real sigh.
I used to really let Robert get in my head, but I genuinely feel bad
for his condition.
Part of my growing up, and recovery from alcoholism has allowed me to
see things differently. I now have the ability to forgive and let old
stupid resentments go. It's a nice feeling too. I wish Pete could
experience it too.

Pete, why are you deliberately trying to start more shit by bringing
someone's child into this? That is really stupid.
And if I find out you are running for some sort of office, I'll make

no one have the obligation to forgive you nor you can ask for it.
Same with bAss, he decided to go on the same path as you. Fine with me. but
I dont have to forgive him.
I was not on his back neither I was posting anything about him except on
technical stuff.. wich is the reason why I am on this NG: technical stuff.
He started this tread , he asked for it.
I dont feel like anyone should forgive me in any ways cause I am not someone

forgiven, I wont follow your or his path.
I react to poeple hurting others, but in no way I am the instigator.

Yup.
All you can do is clean your "side of the street", and that is done.
If he wants to wallow in his own misery, that's his problem.
Then you missed the whole point of the story - that's a shame, it's a
really good one.

And I thought I was cynical.
It was HIS mind he had time to change, he has no control over mine -
believing his change is honest is my own decision.
Besides, all change is premised upon some level of anxiety, however minor.
I'm certainly glad my perspective on life is not as rigid and black and

First you would never be able to understand anything about myself on the
news cause its all in french.
And what I said is in no way against Jew, its against the gov of Israel,
when someone say that Bush was a fucking moron, it doesnt mean that all
american are moron's.
When someone said that the Israel army kill child on purpose, they dont say
that all jewish people are killing child, if you cant make the difference
then your a prime time retard.

No, thats a damn catholic way of thinking. I can think for myself, dont need

guilt? Again a selfish feeling.

When someone is acting properly with others , he doesnt have a need to be
rigid, unless someone is trying to hurt him ore anyone else.
And the only way to protect yourself and the others is to make sure not to
fall in any trap left by the bad one's..
If he would have been a different reason, then his illness and fear of dying
miserable, but thats not the case, his redemption is not genuine but
selfish.
Another concept that has gone right over your head...

He's psychic now...

Nah...
I don't think he missed the point. I think the point got missed in the
French translation. ;-)

That may be. But he's from Quebec. Different crowd over there. They
have really funny ideas. Like eating snails smothered in garlic and
butter... And then there's this dish... "Poutine"... You take
perfectly good french fries and smother them in gravy loaded with garlic
and butter...
Here's a different take Frank
Why did he pick petem? He's not really said a lot against RLB
Why not Doug?
Alarman?
Me?
No he picks an occasional poster, a minor character, out of the blue,
in a new thread, in a very visible new thread. petem isn't falling for
it
If Robert REALLY wants to make peace then he can go away.
Mr Campbell will arrive and chastise in 5... ....3...2.. oh wait my bad
RHC: Chastise ?....hell no....I'm just sitting here LOL, watching this
thread go from the ridiculous to the absurd....
For Chrissakes guys, lets give it a rest...this isn't the real world,
it's just a newsgroup !! Maybe we should all try following Graham's
advice a bit more. Besides, if Petem can't find it in his heart to
apply a little basic forgiveness then that's up to him; RLB will be
none the worse for wear over it....
Me?...I don't believe I'm still following this stupid thread...:((...
(and worse still, posting...)
From everything he's said, that's exactly what's going to happen.
He'll "go away" in a few months. But before he does I want him to know
that he's forgiven and that I don't bear him ill will. Whether Pete,
you, Jack, or Doug reciprocate is of no consequence to either him, me,
or anyone else here. I just know how *I* feel about it and I'm happy to
have made the choice that's more in keeping with my personal values and
beliefs. Robert and I have frequently been at "loggerheads", and for
what? So the "noise" can continue? Many of us have been caught up in
this battle and all of the issues (past and some of the present) seem
"petty" in light of what Robert's going through today. I wouldn't want
to wish that on anyone.
He's made peace with me and I see no point in either promoting or
fostering further animosity.
Leonard Nimoy said it best (in his role as Mr. Spock on Star Trek):
"Live long and prosper". That wish goes out to all of you.

And hopefully you won't stop posting, ya old fart.
Next thing ..... you'll be proposing a group Mind Meld.
Ekkkkkkk!
Random selection. I was planning to get around to the rest, one at a time. I
bear you no ill will, Mark. We've argued and shot insults back and forth for
years. I wish there was a way to back up and start over but there isn't. All I
can say is I'm sorry for any wrong I've done. I would very much like to just
make peace with all of you though. Is that possible?
Robert
One thing I have found in my meanderings though the ebbs and flows of
life is that even the most sincere effort to make amends often falls
upon deaf ears.
Being rejected, isn't always a reflection of some failing on the part of
the person doing the rejecting. Some feel that forgiveness is giving
past poor behavior a pass and, to them, that isn't acceptable.
Fair enough from their perspective.
That isn't how I see it. IMHO, forgiveness is letting go of past
resentments, though the actions are remembered. As we are fond of
saying in another forum I participate on, "a resentment is me drinking
poison, hoping you die..."
From my perspective, offering amends is a way of making peace with my
own poor behavior. I have found that as long as the offer is honestly
extended, the manner in which it is received has only a little effect on
the outcome. I meant it - and should the person have a change of heart
later on (which has happened) I follow through.
The honest intentions (which is known ONLY to the person extending the
olive branch) has more to do with coming to peace with myself than any
forgiveness I may have garnered from others. By the same token, amends
offered with less than rigorous honesty doesn't help what you see in the
mirror regardless of any forgiveness from others.
It all boils down to the fact that what I think about myself is far more
important than what others may think of me.
This is not either supporting or opposing anything that you said
(which I do on both counts) but,
nicely said.
Not random at all and the answer is no for the reasons I just gave.
You are a phony then and you are now
Jeeze Mark... Pete's Quebecois Grammar is starting to rub off on you!! :-)
"You are a phony then...???" Next thing you'll start posting with a
French accent.
That may be. If Mike S. had seen what was coming do you think he would
have tried "cleaning his side of the street" too? I think He has given
Robert a tremendous gift. Not all of us have much of a chance to make
amends before He calls us to Him. And that is putting about as much of
a "postive spin" on the situation as I can. What Robert's going through
still sucks but I have to admire him for reaching out after all these
years. He's posted a lot of hateful, hurtful things. You and Pete
should read the story of "the prodigal son" again. I figure Robert's
been about as "prodigal" as you can get. I just hope Pete has a good
French translation. :-)

Come on!! bring the real facts!! French fries with gravy and curb of
cheese... no garlic or butter.
Its like your Michigan hot-dogs.. Gheee!! A pertly good Weiner and some good
bread, then you throw some italian sauce.. You could had parmesan cheese and

Then I dont forgive, unless it was mistake from the beginning, With bAss
there is no mistake, he searched for it, he got it..
