I am a student trying to produce an essay on modern artists I am looking for
any contact in this area so that I can pose specific questions about the
subject if you could reply to me and I will forward a list of questions. If
not then if you have any information about further contacts or sites that I
may find useful then it would be much appreciated

[What do you mean by "modern artists"? "Modern" has a somewhat specific meaning
in art-historical dialogue: followers of the tenents of "Modernism", a movement
or series of movements arising in the early part of the century which
called for
a new approach to art characterized by a rejection of realistic portrayal and an
embrace of radical stlyistic individualism, a discarding of historical styles
in favor of new ones reflective of industrial functionalism, and a fervor for
simplification and abstraction. Although there are still many artists who would
subscribe to these beliefs, Modernism has come to be considered something of a
spent force; it has settled down into a few set styles which have themselves
become fair game for the "postmodernists" pastiche.

So are you looking for early Modernists, living survivors of the original
movement; new followers of the same dicta; or do you just need information on
some contempory artists who may have little or nothing to do with Modernism?]
