Let your heart, your hand, your eyes, do the work until you are
pleased with the results.
Education can help or hinder depending how you use it....

If you look f.ex Andrew Werby's site, you see that sculpture
involves a variety or techniques, which may take more than a lifetime
to learn the hard way. On the other hand, you may want to specialize
in one technique only.
The non-technical side. We all have a personal opinion
what we regard as art, and what we want to do.
In most cases it is beneficial to be open to
different impulses, and schools are good
places to get contacts and conversations.
If that is not possibe, try to hang in this NG
and visit as much exhibitions as possible.
Finally your question about selling. It is
a special skill itself. First you have to decide
if you want to spend most of time producing
saleable stuff. That is what most professional
artists have to do.
Maybe you rather make art as s you like,
stay amaterur or semiamateur
and earn your bread elsewhere. This has been
my choice.
