How much control does the government have on the media?

We are all familiar with the way the press manages to report wikke
leaks, threats of burning the Koran, and the posting of swastikas on
synagogues, but the only reference to a recent chicano demonstration
at the Arizona state capital in which they trampled all over and
disfigured the US flag has apparently not been presented by the
press. I just saw pictures of it in a right-wing email sent to me.

I wonder what others think is going on here. Even though I tend to
delete unenvited e-mails from those friends and relatives who are far
to the right, I do even so believe the pictures shown of this even
are real.
