Newest Phobos Images from Mars Orbit

I don't know about anyone else, but to the naked eye, the reflectivity
on Phobos sure looks like a large percentage of that moon could be
water ice.

Wasn't there a recent Russian study that found as much?

Phobos is at about the same temperature as Mars, i.e. not too far below
the freezing point of water, and maybe sneaking above it sometimes. It
has no atmosphere. So if there were water-ice directly on the surface,
it would quickly sublime away, leaving a coating of whatever dust,
etc., was embedded in it.
