God and Jesus (assuming that the accounts were accurate and real) were
really to do with an all powerful god as opposed to a highly evolved
extra-terrestrial civilisation I think that the ET theory is more
plausible to me.
Check out the bible for hundreds (if not thousands) of references to
mysterious clouds, sometimes glowing bright, carrying god, protecting
the people, raining fire, clouds of fire. Clouds even speaking to people
and descending from the heavens to the ground. There is much reference
to this. I can provide references.

I really don't want to get into this on this newsgroup... but, if you
thoroughly examined the concepts in the bible, it is clear that we are the
one creation of God, and only one Savior died for one world - to have him
die for other planets, would seem pointless if not misleading to the
intentions of God...

The lost tooth was a painful experience that prevented a child to sleep.

survive, we never give a damn about the ten thousand because they do
not make special evening news. We care about that rare random chance,

Then you ask where was that god when 10,000 people died?
The ready answer is that he is around but he does not like to interfere
with these kind of things, after all, can you imagine how busy he would
be if he decided to protect every one all the time, that would be a
very difficult job even for superman.
Then you ask, so why in that particular incident did your Phantom God
move his ass to save that person?
You get all sorts of justifications, about anything and everything you
could or could not imagine.
Then a clever prick that have a great ego comes in to save the day and

If it was the other way around it would have been that we do not need a
god that just killed one.

This thread seems to have started debate on lots of things but of particular
interest are:
What exactly is god and what is the notion of god?
Do we need faith to live (faith in physical realtity holding us together)?
What is I? What is the notion of self?
We must try and address "what is physical reality" before we attempt
questions of "what is god". We need to see how god might fit in with reality
(if there really is such a thing).
At the end of the day, if we follow the scientific perspective to the
ultimate degree we are left with the following:-
For a human the following sentence is believed to be true:
Our concept of reality is based upon the fact that - sight, sound, touch,
taste, smell are simply electrical impulses being sent to a very complex
neural network/machine (the brain).
Our brain utilises this electrical information to create a reality BASED
ENTIRELY ON PERCEPTION (the senses).
Since each of us have different inputs via the senses, each of our
realities, and the construction thereof, is different. Albeit, not vastly
different.
But do we physically exist? Our brain is being fed electrical signals which
could be simulated in some super-advanced virtual/neural reality machine.
Would we know the difference if it has always been this way from day one?
Probably not.
Sure, if looks like a duck, walks like a duck, then it is a duck. Well,
problem with that is that our mindset, our programming, our indoctrination,
our thinking processes, have ALL been created from this reality (which could
be simulated) and therefore we will be biased/prejudiced into believing this
is reality and there is such a thing as physical reality....

ENTIRELY ON PERCEPTION (the senses).
Since each of us have different inputs via the senses, each of our realities,

proof of that.)
