Somewhere back in the 50's there was talk about some sonic weaponry,
which was supposed to render the enemy deaf. In question was an
explosive which allegedly converted 20% of its energy into sound waves
when detonated. The compound they played around with was the
Perchlorate of 2,4 dinitro diazonium aniline : 2,4 - (NO2)2 - Ph - NN+
ClO4-. In the lab, the breaking of a single xx and the following
detonation of this very sensitive stuff was supposed to have ruptured
both eardrums of the researcher, but not having caused any other
damage.
Did ever come anything out of this or was it just some hype?
