Hi,

my digital receiver has a loop through connection.
What does that exactly mean? Can I connect another digital DVB-S? Any
restrictions?

Yes there are a lot of restrictions. What exactly will happen depends
a bit on the construction of the receiver, but you can at least assume
that both receivers must be tuned to the same polarization and hi or lo
band.
When there is a difference, the directly connected receiver often
will get priority. But not always. And it may make a difference
whether the receiver is ON, STANDBY or OFF.

Don't assume you can use the two receivers independently. When that
is what you want, you need to use a twin lnb.

DiSEqC switch can be used to connect up to 4 receivers to a single
lnb. An A/B switch will seperate two STBs and allow them individual
acces to the a single lnb. The twin lnb will allow 2 STBs to
function indepentantly, but requires an additional run of coax.

An integrated on-chip loop through function simplifies STB designs
that require an additional RF out, and multi-tuner applications such
as PVRs, televisions supporting picture-in-picture, and other similar
functionality

I have a digital receiver with loop through. Some time ago I decided to try
using this by connecting an analog receiver to the loop. At first I thought
it worked great. Later on I discovered complications. My dish has mounted
two LNB's on it, one for Astra 1 and the other for Astra 2, which are
connected via a disecq switch. Now with the analog receiver added, it seems
the digital receiver can't receive from the other LNB (Astra 2) anymore.
So in fact this makes the loop through useless for me...

Have you totally disabled Diseqc, high/low band switching and 14/18v
supplies on the analogue receiver ?

In fact I have posted about this some time ago here. The analog receiver is
a Welltech W999 which I found back, but I'm afraid I don't have a manual,
nor a proper remote.
Of course I have been Googling my head off for information about this
device, but still to no avail. I even mailed a company called Welltech, but
to make things easy it seems there are different companies under this name.
By now I managed to program a universal remote for on/off, mute and channel
up/down, but I don't know how to reach the setup menu. I can't think of any
way to figure out the required IR codes...
So to answer your question: I'm not sure.

Yes I've been there. Other people have been searching w999 too, but... no
manual!
