This group seems very quiet these days!
My Sky box seems to be a bit flakey recently and I'm
thinking of replacing it with a cheap (50 ukp-ish) freesat
box. Are there any to avoid (or work well) for the Costa
del Sol area?

satellites and non-FreeSat channels; what you can't do with one is a
timed recording of a non-FreeSat channel.
Unfortunately if you delete a channel by mistake you have to do a new
install (or you can grab it back as a non-FreeSat channel) but that
should not normally happen if e.g. you are killing off the block of
advertising channels.

The dish would be too small for Spain, but the RX on it's own
actually costs more.
As well as being High Def, it has USB sockets you can connect
