greetings users
can anyone help please.
i have had a db 800hd installed for me for a while now, just before
Christmas i bought a samsung 160gb, but was disappointed to find that
i could not even initialize it .
in the setup menu there is no hard disk option, is this something
anyone here has experienced? if so is there a way of putting this
right? must say that i am almost a novice in with this , and i dont
want to mess up what the installer has setup, a step by step procedure
would be much appreciated.
no so far i have been unable to get in touch with the guy who
installed it, so have to try diy.
TIA
ps by the way i bought the disk that i noted in the manual hindsight
is a great thing .
what is the up to capacity disk that i could fit to the dreambox 800
is the above problem i did not have?

I have a much older model, probably too old to be much help, but this
is probably your best starting point:

However, be aware that there are cheap Dreambox forgeries around, and
yours may be one of those. If so, there's no telling if the software
has been implemented properly and in full.

I have no way of knowing if i do have a pirate copy, but i did wonder
why the instructions manual illustrations were not in color. (I note
that the pdf available manual is in color)
I paid for installation and dreambox as package and did ask if was
genuine, of coarse was assured it was. i wasenr aware at that time
that I could have hd problem, but it may well be genuine article so I
wouldn't buy another just to have the hard disk setup.
and besides I wouldn't know how to install and setup everything from
scratch.
was hoping to see the installer soon but he hasn't been in touch

You could probably format it using gparted on a Linux PC.

or, you may find some of the other images for the Dreambox are more
helpful.

or you may find that there is suitable plugin.

or you could try the www.worldofsatellite.co.uk forum

Very sorry for my manners guys, I have not been able to get near a
computer much less Usenet recently; family affairs dictates that I
will have to get back to this another time when i can.
Thanks for all suggestions and anymore that comes, will digest later
and try out.
Help very much appreciated
