I'm thinking of having a dish installed at the bottom of my garden and the
length of the cable run to the house is in the region of 18 metres +.

Is this length OK, and if so what length can cable be used before problems
occur ?

So long as you have a strong signal from the satellite into the dish
then I would think that you would be fine for 50 metres.

The longer the cable the greater the loss in dB, but if the cable is of
good quality and the signal is strong then 18 metres would be fine.

However the cable quality is important.

But I have set up systems with around 30m without problems.
