Hi Everyone

Just thought I'd let you know you would be wasting your money!!!

He claims to give free advice once you purchase a programmer from
him but I have E-Mailed him a number of times over the past week
and had no reply's at all.

I even tried to phone him but he's X-directory.

If there is anybody out there that can help with programming pics
please E-Mail

Kind Regards
Simon Miller

Simon, I think you are very unfair to post this type of message about a private individual how has provided
good service to many people over the last year or so.  It might have occured to you that he is away at the
moment and does not see his mail !!

I use one of his programmers, and it is probably one of the best designs around with its on-board stabilised
power supplies.  This has proved to be most reliable and certainly a lot better than the cheapy ones that are
interfaced directly to the port without buffers etc.  It also happens to be one of the best value PIC
programmers currently offered through the Newsgroup.

If you are going to post this type of message it might be helpful if you were to give details of the problem
as I am sure there are many people on this Newsgroup who could help you.

Isn't it strange that all the PIC programmer problems seem to occure at the same time that the codes change
!!!???

If you want some help give me a call and I will see what I can do for you. (+44-1895-862795 Work or
+44-1753-884294 Home).

All the best,

This reminds me of the people who ring the doorbell, then walk away if you
don't answer in 5 seconds ... or let the phone ring only about 4 times
before assuming you aren't at home.

Is he supposed to be at home 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, just because
he has a product to sell? What about if he is taking a holiday, for
instance?

Think twice before implying someone is running a con, or telling other
people not to use their services. One day it might backfire on you.

I have just purchased a pic programmer from Chris, I personally
collected it from his home, as I was in the area on a short break.#
He was nothing but helpful, I did have a few problems at first when
attempting to use the programmer, but managed to solve the problems.
It was something I was doing wrong.
I am very happy with the programmer.

Its all well and good saying its awful to post such messages but its not
very nice either buying something like a pic programmer itching like
most gadget freaks to use the device only to find the support is poor
when your haveing problems.

By the way if anyone wants a good 16c84 programmer with pic buster built
in its a 3card hardware programmer very easy to use and has a card slot
for programming d2mac cards it cost me 99 pounds but if you want it 40
pounds secures includeing insured post anywhere is the uk and support in
useing the device i will be happy to provide....

As shown you can please some people some of the time but you can not please
all people all of the time.
I contacted simon once i returned from working away last week ,to find that
he'd realised the problem was in his computer and that the programmer was
working correctly. I see though that he's not so fast to apologise as he is to
criticize.
As a lot of people can understand, trying to answer 87 emails and keep web
pages up to date in 1 day let alone in 1 week (which simon had been in
possession of the combi kit) is almost inpossible.
There is however a minority who seem to reserve the right to be answered
immediately.
If you do have a problem then please be patient or ask on a.s.t.c..
There have been many satisfied users of the combi, i am sure that someone may
have the answer if i can't answer you quickly.
All combi and basic pic programmers that are despatched ready built are tested
fully. 99% of errors normally occure with lpt ports not being configured
correctly.
Please remeber that i am not a factory i an 1 person making the combi
programmer in my megar amount of spare time to help other people who do not
have the facillity to make there own. I do not want to expand as this would
conflict with my day work and also put prices up.

PLEASE!! PLEASE!! PLEASE!! BE PATIENT

Well, not entirely. I also bought a programmer from Chris and it works
fine, no problem. However I am curious as to the "wiring" of the DIP
switch, ie which pins on the parallel port go to which pads on the
card, and Chris is holding these cards close to his chest.
