I assume that you've purchased (or received with the unit) and original CN NA
NT for that unit. If not, it won't update regardless of whether you have an
original of some other map set.

(Remove number)
why even bother ? when you are already on the latest ?
When you ordered, you had to supply the serial number of the 755T,
and the new DVD will probably be locked to that specific unit ?
BTW - you mention it's a CD, but all my maps came on DVD ?
Can you tell it's the 2010.20 version DVD vs what you already have installed
?
hmmm - where is the current NA map image installed - on the SD card, or in
the 755 memory ?
The upgrade might only be looking at the memory of the GPS ?
What map were you using there? Is it still loaded? Were you using NA &
EU combined?

I was wondering whether he'd purchased the "original" EU and hadn't purchased
an original NA.
A quick check for him would be to check his my.garmin account and see which
updates were available--and to see whether it reflected an original NA.

I hope the right people take the time to read your reply. You
certainly didn't do yourself any favors with your custom quoting
style. Agent 5.0 can do a fine job of quoting text, if you let it.
Hey Pete!

I think it's time to give Garmin a call. Seems like the update should have
worked on the basis of your my.garmin findings.
When you have multiple large area maps,
are they combined into one IMG file,
or are they in separate IMG files on the GPS ?
Can you take a look at the GPS via USB,
and look at the \Garmin folder ?
With my GPS connected to the USB,
and bringing up the Garmin website,
logging in and doing the MyMaps thing...
I only have 1 map and this is how it shows in MyGarmin -
(with codes XXX'd out)
Installed Maps
Unlk/Reg Sheet,CNNA NT 2009.10 Limited
Region: City Navigator North America NT 2009.10 Limited, Deluxe All Regions,
Jan 09
Code: xxxxx
Unlock Code: xxxx
Date Unlocked: March 6, 2009
On my GPS in the \Garmin sub-dir
gmapprom.img 1.1gb my CN NA NT map ?
gmapbmap.img 92mb ??
gmapsupp.img 19mb my topo selected areas ?

Hasse
#1 - Map names as shown exactly on the GPS "about" screen ?
#2 - Order updates for that specific GPS serial number - same exactly named
map ?
#3 - Attempt to install - needs to find previous version on same serial
number GPS ?
#4 - ??

Looks like I missed this post, please excuse the piggy-back
I have a new (5 week old) 255W which came with full European
mapping pre-loaded.
Having encountered the insufficient space problem with my old
C330, I removed all un-needed voice, text and help files from the
unit as per the instructions on the Garmin website.
When I tried to load my free map update, CNEUNT2010_20
(Full European mapping) to the 255, I got an 'insufficient space'
error.
On phoning Garmin, the tech told me to load Spain/Portugal and
he'd send an e-mail on how to resolve the problem (I'm still waiting
on the e-mail !). I did so and, at that point, WinExplorer told me I
had : Used space = 304MB, Free space = 1.50GB.
Phoned back the next day and the problem was 'sorted' ?
The FULL mapping is now on an SD card (just as well I had one)
and I have overwritten Spain/Portugal with maps which are more
useful to me.
I don't think this is really a satisfactory solution. As I put it to
the technician, 'if you bought a new laptop with Windows pre-loaded
and the first time you tried to update (or add another program) you
were told, 'insufficient drive space' . . . would you be happy ?

tnx for the update -
That's why we asked about what version was really on the DVD.
When I did one of my updates last year,
there was not even an option for DVD - it was download only.
I actually had two media - one was the major yearly update via DVD,
and then the other was a download for an incremental.
Also - in the future... toss in a few line breaks.... easier to read...
