Well, over the past few months I've been getting more and more
frustrated with it. But the final straw was when I knew that to go
somewhere new to me, I had to turn left out of my driveway and
eventually turn right onto a US Route. And the Navigon wanted me to
turn RIGHT, clover-leaf around the highway (about 1/2 mile away) and
head BACK DOWN MY STREET, then turn LEFT before the US Route. And then
later, leaving the place and going somewhere else it wanted me to take
the long way despite being set to use the "optimal" routing.
The Navigon is now a Navi-Gone.
I just got myself a Nuvi 255w. It doesn't have all the features I
want, but it has all the features I'm willing to pay for at this time
(don't need telephonics, traffic info is interesting but I found
usually not relevant to my actual use, etc).
Since I've used Garmin before, I'm already somewhat familiar with
MapSource, MapInstall and the POI Loader, and I have already upgraded
to the current versions as well as update the Nuvi itself to the
current firmware. In connecting it to MapSource, I see that it shows
options not available with the c330: Routes. It was able to download
the tracks/routes I had used today while the Nuvi was on, and after
calculating a route between two Favorites in MapSource (as a test for
this next part) offered to upload Routes when I then went to "Send to
GPS". However, after that "send" operation while I did find a change
to my Favorites that I had done, I could not find the uploaded route.
If this Nuvi does not support uploading of routes, why is it possible
to upload them? Alternately, where will I find the uploaded route?
There is no actual manual included with the unit, and the manual
downloaded from the Garmin server (pdf file) doesn't even mention this
feature which I'm guessing means it's not a feature of the unit.
