Howdy, Recently bought and am using a Nuvi 755T. Worked great over a 3 week 2750k EU trip. Now back in TX. Got my nuMaps Onetime update cd for NA NT 2010 via USPS. This update is supposed to take me to NA NT 2010.20 from NA NT 2010.10 Unfortunately I keep getting this (-- garmin gps not eligible -- previous map version not installed.) on a screen when I try to do the update as per the cd install update steps. When I acknowledge the message the installer closes without installing the update to my garmin unit. From the same cd I had no problem installing the updated NA maps for use with Map Source. I searched the garmin knowledge base and found no clue as to what I've over looked. Everything seems to be working fine. Map Source is A-OK. The latest garmin online communicator is installed. I can upload and download to the 755T from Map Source. I have an SD card and I'm able to view that content (grand kids photos) with no problem. Currently my Nuvi 755T has NA NT 2010.10, and I have been using it over the past few weeks in and around Dallas/Ft. Worth. Thanx in advance for advice. Pete

I assume that you've purchased (or received with the unit) and original CN NA NT for that unit. If not, it won't update regardless of whether you have an original of some other map set. -- Carl Heinz cfhein...@charter.net (Remove number)

why even bother ? when you are already on the latest ?
When you ordered, you had to supply the serial number of the 755T, and the new DVD will probably be locked to that specific unit ? BTW - you mention it's a CD, but all my maps came on DVD ? Can you tell it's the 2010.20 version DVD vs what you already have installed ?
hmmm - where is the current NA map image installed - on the SD card, or in the 755 memory ? The upgrade might only be looking at the memory of the GPS ?

I was wondering whether he'd purchased the "original" EU and hadn't purchased an original NA.
A quick check for him would be to check his my.garmin account and see which updates were available--and to see whether it reflected an original NA. -- Carl Heinz cfhein...@charter.net (Remove number)

The site shows I have both North America and European map sets on my nuvi 755T. On the Map Updates page it shows a nuMaps Onetime CN E NT available to purchase. Next to nuMaps onetime CN NA NT it says "free update has been ordered". OBTW back in August when we got this Garmin new an update for CN E NT was not available. Since only one free update was offerred with my unit I opted for the CN NA NT update and ordered it as a disc(DVD) vice a download. I hope my replies are helpful, and I look forward to any ideas you all may have about how to get the ontime update into my display unit memory from the DVD. Pete

I hope the right people take the time to read your reply. You certainly didn't do yourself any favors with your custom quoting style. Agent 5.0 can do a fine job of quoting text, if you let it.

When you have multiple large area maps, are they combined into one IMG file, or are they in separate IMG files on the GPS ?
Can you take a look at the GPS via USB, and look at the \Garmin folder ?
With my GPS connected to the USB, and bringing up the Garmin website, logging in and doing the MyMaps thing...
I only have 1 map and this is how it shows in MyGarmin - (with codes XXX'd out)
Installed Maps Unlk/Reg Sheet,CNNA NT 2009.10 Limited Region: City Navigator North America NT 2009.10 Limited, Deluxe All Regions, Jan 09 Code: xxxxx Unlock Code: xxxx Date Unlocked: March 6, 2009

I can't answer for the 755 but on my Nüvi 670 which also came from Garmin with both NA and EU maps I have two files, gmapprom.img and gmapprom1.img. I can update them independently of each other. But I had small problems updating to the latest EU maps because they were bigger than the earlier ones I had and I had to free some space on the unit to be able to load them. That may be the problem for the OP as well.

tnx - can't figure out where the disconnect is coming from, as all the ducks have to match - else you're going to get the error message...
#1 - Map names as shown exactly on the GPS "about" screen ? #2 - Order updates for that specific GPS serial number - same exactly named map ? #3 - Attempt to install - needs to find previous version on same serial number GPS ? #4 - ??
Hey Richard, Got started flying A6 Intruders with the US Marines. Then, SunJet International flying MD-80s. Then, Kitty Hawk, on DC-9s and B-727s. Been retired for almost 5 yrs. Thanx for asking. Good luck at Sunwing! Sun Jet did vacation charters. Kitty Hawk was all freight. Pete
Howdy again, Appreciate the observations and suggestions. Including the how to with Agent. With my garmin nuvi 755T. I'll try updating armed with your insight. If unable, I'll give Garmin a call. Either way I'll reply again with my outcome. Pete

Looks like I missed this post, please excuse the piggy-back
I have a new (5 week old) 255W which came with full European mapping pre-loaded.
Having encountered the insufficient space problem with my old C330, I removed all un-needed voice, text and help files from the unit as per the instructions on the Garmin website.
When I tried to load my free map update, CNEUNT2010_20 (Full European mapping) to the 255, I got an 'insufficient space' error.
On phoning Garmin, the tech told me to load Spain/Portugal and he'd send an e-mail on how to resolve the problem (I'm still waiting on the e-mail !). I did so and, at that point, WinExplorer told me I had : Used space = 304MB, Free space = 1.50GB.
Phoned back the next day and the problem was 'sorted' ?
The FULL mapping is now on an SD card (just as well I had one) and I have overwritten Spain/Portugal with maps which are more useful to me.
I don't think this is really a satisfactory solution. As I put it to the technician, 'if you bought a new laptop with Windows pre-loaded and the first time you tried to update (or add another program) you were told, 'insufficient drive space' . . . would you be happy ? --
Close out from Pete, The solution was staring me in the face. Turns out on disc DVD one time updates are published about once a year according to the Garmin rep I spoke to via phone. Updates inside that cycle must come via a download. When I tried the "free" update with the mailed one time update DVD one of the screens generated by the setup.exe gave me an option to do a download vice using the files on the DVD. I choose DVD. Wrong choice. When I used the download choice my nuvi internal memory got updated to CN NA NT 2010.20. That is a lot of data to download. Took my set up about an hour with a high speed connection during the wee hours of the AM. To those who joined this thread. Thanx! Pete

tnx for the update - That's why we asked about what version was really on the DVD. When I did one of my updates last year, there was not even an option for DVD - it was download only. I actually had two media - one was the major yearly update via DVD, and then the other was a download for an incremental.
Also - in the future... toss in a few line breaks.... easier to read...
