Most recent update to Lifetime maps?

For my LM whatever, does anyone know the ID of the most recent update
(something in the format of 2013.xx??). And how does one find it?
When I bought mine (LM2460?) about 2 years ago, I received about 3
updates within the first 3 or so months; but now, it's been a while.

Just curious if there's a website I can check to find out the most
current status.

Just did it for my C340. 2013.3

Compared to the previous updates, this one is bigger; can't do all of North
America; have to choose between Southern states+Mexico, or US 48, or
Canada-Alaska (I think).

Also, now I do not see local rivers any more! Bummer!

That's the hone page for Garmin, I believe, I didn't see any mention of
a mapping version on that page. It's not terribly clear where in the
myriad website such a value could be found?

But I will answer my own question; if one goes to buy a map, and drills
down to a particular model page such as
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=1456&pvID=73251, one does see it
at the bottom of the page : "Version: 2013.30 ; Released: October, 2012
Part Number: 010-D0743-00 ".

2013.4 now current. Also, I was offered and accepted a new application

from Garmin called 'Garmin Express' that seems to be a THIRD electronic

facility to download and load my maps to the Nuvi. But this one actually


seemed to work well with lots of other features built in.
Although, for the first time, my MT unit could not hold the entire NA in
one swoop - had to select just the 'lower 49' states this time to make
it fit.)

yes but Garmin Express did not ask me if I want the updated map on the
N�vi only, or also on the PC. Now I got it on the N�vi, but Mapsource
and Basecamp show the old one only.

Did I miss anything?

No Idea. Just check if the data structure of the map is still on the
computer. Look for the directory "City Navigator Europe NT
2013.40.gmap" amd move it to \programdata\garmin\maps. With
Lifetimeupdater it is in "\programdata\garmin\maps\lmu maps"...

thanks a lot. I found it in \ProgramData\GARMIN\Core Update
Service\MAP-EU-2013-40\IMG and moved it as requested, besides the
previous map 2013.30. But neither Mapsource nor Basecamp finds it. In
the folder of 2013.30, there are some more files...

At this moment I reload the map with the old Garmin Map Updater instead
of the new Express program. This gave me the option to install it on the
computer as well. I wonder why this feature is missing in Express.

I am not aksing you for the IMG directory (that contains the file for
the receiver only). The directory I mentioned above contains the mdr
directory (CNEuroNT_2013_40_mdr) and the Product1 directory. These are
the files for mapsource and basecamp

Oh - yes I find this in a Temp directory, but in the mean time I
re-loaded the map using Garmin Map Updater and now it works in Mapsource
and Basecamp. I'll discard the Express program.

Diud you have your device connected to the PC when you used Basecamp? If
not, try it, and I think you'll see the 2013.4 map in Basecamp.
From the Garmin fora I follow, Lifetime Updater is now discontinued.

If Garmin Express worked well for you, then you are much more fortunate
than I. I started it about 22 hours ago, and it has errored out a dozen
times. Each time I tell it to retry, and it continues from where it left
off. I now have 76% downloaded. I have high speed internet (9 Mbps down).

While it is doing this, computer performance struggles.

I never had such bad performance with any of the other update processes.

After many more errors, and retrys, Garmin Express told me that I was up
to date. I disconnected my Nuvi 2360 and turned it on to check the map
version: still 2013.30.

I searched for previous downloads of Garmin Map Updater and found
v3.1.20. I ran this and it is now happily downloading map 2013.40.

Downloading (AKA network activity) typically places a very light load on a
modern computer, all but unnoticeable. I wonder what's going on with yours.

Oh my, this will be EXTREMELY slow as the map will be read from the
device instead from the PC hard drive.

As long as it still works I don't mind if they stop development. I
mean, what more do you want than to update maps?

Yes, I wonder that as well.

Using Garmin Map Updater put no noticeable load on it at all.

And it completed the update in a little over 4 hours.
