I have a nuvi765 and want to go from an address in Gainesville, FL to and
address in Livingston, AL but want to go via Atlanta, GA. I have no
specific address in Atlanta to program into the nuvi. How can I do this?

Thanks in advance... Bob

Bob-

On my old Nuvi 350, I first set up the end address and wait for it to
calculate. Then I press Menu and Where to?, and scroll down to select
Cities. A screen of nearby towns appears, so I select Spell. I type
ATLANTA and press Done. Atlanta, Ga. is down two screens. I select it
and press Go! I'm then asked if I want to insert in Route as Via Point,
and I click Yes.

The hangup is that Atlanta is big. If the Nuvi doesn't think you have
arrived there, it may not change to the final destination. On the other
hand, once it decides you have reached Atlanta, it will continually nag
you with recalculations to get to your end address whether you are ready
or not! You might as well just head north on I-75 and wait until you're
ready to leave Atlanta, to enter the Livingston address (or select it
from your list of favorites).

Most cities have a Main St so enter 100 Main Street. In Atlanta, try
Peachtree Blvd.. I read that the most popular street name in towns is Park
Street.

To add to this post, is there an option on yours to find an
intersection? If so add a VIA point using this method and insert a
major intersection you know you will be going through in Atlanta.

didn't someone over in San Francisco going to LV just ask the same thing ?
BTW - if you are going to ATL and playing tourist, before heading over to
AL,
then, like someone else mentioned - just make it FL -> GA,
then enter GA -> AL

And "via ATL" doesn't really do anything for you, without telling us more
info,
since the GPS will just head for the downtown zero point,
which may not be the path you want if you really are looking for a specific
scenic site.

---> snip'd from other "destination city" thread

that could be tricky -
but took a look on my 255... (260 is in the other car)
as it may not direct you the way you are used to going,
or even to the area you want to visit.
Most maps, etc - use the "post office" as the center of town,
or the epicenter for the street numbering.

I just tried it with just using the "Cities" -> Chicago,
and the destination is downtown, right near City Hall.

Where To -> scroll down to Cities icon
