I'm trying to decide between the Nuvi 770 and TomTom920. Both have
European and US maps but theTomTom is less $. The Nuvi also has a
currency converter and a translation option. Any thoughts as to
whether the Nuvi is worth the extra bucks? Thanks

Reading the specs and looking at the web pages, I'd say both are pretty
good. Were you able to see each one in operation? Is the currency
converter something you'll use? (any calculator can do the same thing,
including the one on my cellphone and the one in my head but not to many
decimal points)

I don't see any justification for the higher price from what I've seen.

I have found cheaper prices for the Nuvi 770 on the web. I personally
like Garmin products.

Depends.

Do you want to spend a lot of time configuring your device and modifying it?
Then buy the TT and you can configure everything to your liking.

Want to have a good device that doe navigating as the best? Then buy the
Nuvi, it is the perfect navigator.

I recently bought a Nuvi 760 and am very happy with it. If you do
decide to go with the Nuvi, www.tvnav.com has the best prices that I
could find. And they're an authorized Garmin dealer. They're
responsive to emails and shipping is quick.

Well.. you're on a Garmin site so I wouldn't be surprised if you'd get a
biased opinion such as mine. Mine is based on the fact that I started flying
when I was 16 years old, and some of my navigational equipment in the
cockpits had always had a Garmin in the mix.. It never "steered" me wrong or
into a mountain (I am still alive) --so my biased vote goes to the Garmin
company products.
