I have a Nuvi 265WT. Can I pair a second cell phone to this device & retain
the first one? I am now sharing this with my wife & wish to have both our
phones paired to answer calls, but never at the same time.

Many Bluetooth devices can do this.

Maybe you could try it and report back...

Sure can. We have our two paired and connects as soon as whichever
phone Bluetooth is turned on or in range. Never tried both at once.
Wonder if that would work?

According to the Garmin site (I finally found some research time), paired
devices are called friendly devices. You can have more than one paired but
only one will work at a time.

I can't speak specifically to the Garmin devices but most cars with built in
Bluetooth if both paired devices are present it goes in priority based on
how you set it up. Both our cars (wife and mine) as well as my mom's my
phone is number one in the hierarchy as, right or wrong, whenever I am
present I am the driver and I've always gone by the driver gets priority as
they are they one who can't hold a phone to their ear.
