Hi,
I need help with my GPS 60CSx, I'm a novice at map updates and I managed to delete the worldwide routable highway base maps Oct 2003, using Mapsource! My intention was to add AUS Shonkymaps to my existing map data.

I've been reading through forums and know understand about gmapbmap.img, gmapsupp.img, using gmaptool to combine gmapsupp sets together as 60CSx only reads one file.

Can anyone provide recommendations to the best approach to restore the worldwide base maps, doesn't need to be the same Oct 2003 set. I would like greater detail maps of AUS and NZ, as I'm based in AUS, and a general worldwide basemaps.

cheers, Bim.

I have a number of GPS 60CSx units and I doubt that you deleted the
basemap. You would have to work pretty hard to do that. First of all the
ONLY map file the 60CSx can read must be a file titled: gmapsupp.img
This file is to be stored on the microSD card in a folder called: Garmin
I suggest as a start though that you try this:
From the Main Menu Page select SETUP, then press the ENTER button.
Then select MAP, then pres the ENTER button.
After you get the next screen, press the MENU button.
Select SHOW ALL from the pick list, then press the ENTER button.
Hopefully this will restore your basemap.
Please note that this list also gives you the ability to pick an choose the
maps you want to either SHOW or HIDE.
This list of choices is very valuable because it also tell you all the maps
you have available. It shows correctly only if they have been correctly
compiled into the single gmapsupp.img file installed on the micro SD card.
Without a microSD card in your unit you should note that this list still
gives you only the basemap to HIDE or SHOW. That is because the basemap that
came with you unit is stored in the unit EPROM.
For you additional information the name of the basemap you have in your unit
shows momentarily when you switch on the unit
Good luck!
