Hmmm,

That *.exe files passes a virus check, has anyone used it successfully?

If you are worried about safety, just run it in a Virtual Machine.

Now you have two options here:

Option 1 - saving mapset on a storage media (SD Card)
--------------------------------------------------
1. Once you get your unlock code, save it into a file called
GMAPSUPP.UNL (using Notepad let's say)
2. Rename your downloaded gmapprom.img to gmapsupp.img.
3. Create a directory called Garmin on your storage media root
directory
4. Put both GMAPSUPP.IMG and GMAPSUPP.UNL to \Garmin directory.
5. Insert your storage media into the nuvi and there you go!

Option 2 - overwriting existing preloaded mapset within the nuvi
-------------------------------------------------------------
1. Once you get your unlock code, save it into a file called
GMAPPROM.UNL (using Notepad let's say)
1. Connect your UNIT to the PC and go to Garmin directory.
2. Make a backup copy of your current GMAPPROM.IMG mapset file.
3. Delete GMAPPROM.IMG mapset file from your UNIT.
4. Upload the new GMAPPROM.IMG mapset to your UNIT (same directory)
along with GMAPPROM.UNL and there you go!

All thank,s goes goes to "JetMouse" for giving this Solution!

and where does one find this exe file? I've reloaded the group back more
than a week and don't see the thread containing it.

A lot of news servers drop binaries in text groups such as a.s.gps.garmin.

It was an attachment to the original post in this thread. At least with
Thunderbird it was. Which is a little strange not that I think about
it. I'm used to thinking of usenet newsgroups as places that are
traditionally free things like of attachments, html, and the like.

ok, I'm slightly confused... why do you need this <cough> if
your unit is legally registered with Garmin? They have my
unlock codes on their site if I need 'em....

What makes you think Garmin is so worthy of protection? They load whatever
mapping material they happen to have handy onto their units when they make them,
then want to charge you big bucks for the latest maps... even if you just bought
the unit.

They make one or two very minor changes to their hardware, then declare it a
"new" model while providing minimal support for their older stuff... even if it
isn't that old.

Their business model sucks. They make a decent product but I feel like they
screw their customers at every opportunity. I don't have any sympathy for them
if a keygen becomes widely available on the internet. It's like a company
fighting a union... good companies don't need unions; any company that has a
union deserved it. Garmin deserves the keygen.

Don't want it? Don't buy it. There are other units available.

In basic terms it's called being a thief.

version 1.2 works very well with Garmin maps like City Navigator
but it does not work with locked maps with cgpsmapper.com.
the guy at cgpsmapper have done something different, but his tools use
the same 25 caracters keycode.

do you know what is the difference between cgpsmmapper and garmin
lock? is version 1.3 gonna help?

please post reply in this forum.

I found my problem.

JetMouse keygen can only generate keys for ProductID = 1
my ProductID is different.

I will need to wait for a new version or to patch the keygen to force
another ProductID.

The FamilyID is the same as the MapID, for example City Navigator...
