if i'm using trackback to navigate a return journey from a hike and i
have bearing displayed on the map is that the bearing to the final
destination i'm going to (trail head) or the bearing to the nearest
point on the track?

what are the most useful data fields to display when you're trying to
return from a hike using track back?

Thnx

just out of curiosity - what model Garmin GPS ?

I always get bearing vs heading mixed up,
but I would think it would be pointing to your final destination location,
since track back merely reverses the two points involved.

The track back is nice -
but you should also set various waypoints along the way
for markers - so you can GoTo them as needed.

A track will contain many track points. During a track back it is these
track points which the unit (at least my 76CSx) will navigate to in reverse
order.
