I just got this GPS for Christmas. I"ve had a few Garmin's in the past,
including the 350 and 650.

I must say that even though I like the traffic feature and the display
shows more detail then my older 350, the unit otherwise sucks.

For example, searching for POI's are slower than with my Nuvi 350.
There is a long noticable lag between keystrokes when entering address
information. My unit randomly locks up. I have some other maps on my SD
card and some of them cause the 765T to lock up during the boot process.
These maps are CN Taiwan and CN Mexico. These maps work fine with my
350 and 650.
The calibration process is hard to get to and even with calibration, the
blue dot in diagnostic
mode likes to bounce around.

Any one else unhappy with their 7x5T?

Have you updated the firmware & software at Garmin's site yet? After
doing this I like my 765T very much.

My StreetPilot started randomly locking up after I updated the CN maps. I had
the latest firmware installed but I tried re-installing it and this seems to
have cured the problem completely.

Did you reinstall old firmware or just the new one? In any case, my
765T is going back for a replacement.

The firmware had not changed since before the map update, so I just
re-installed the latest version of firmware. I've heard of this working with
other units so it might be worth trying before you send it back.

I tried that too. The problem still remained. It's too bad that Perry
(http://www.gawisp.com/perry/nuvi/) doesn't update his website with new
updates any more.

Then I think you must have a faulty unit unfortunately.

What on earth is all that stuff? Presumably it's explained somewhere.
