I installed one of the $49.95 systems. I am up & going with signal strength
of 115-118. The software cdrom showed Release 1.6 REV C. I think I have
1.6D cause when I tried to upgrade it basically said driver was already
there. There was no separate 2.0 cdrom in the carton that I could find.

My question: Should I upgrade to the latest 2.??. I do not have Newscast or
Webcast at this time and don't think I really need it. I have the 100 hour
plan and this seems to be sufficent time for me.

One other mystery/question: Why do graphics intense websites like
starwars.com and others load with blinding speed while pages in dejanews.com
are slow to average at best? I don't get it. TIA.

John,

Remember - "If it ain't broke, dont fix it"!!! <grin>
If you don't want Webcast or Newscast, I wouldn't upgrade to ver 2.

The graphics sit on a web server waiting to be immediately delivered
to web page requests. When you search DejaNews, the server has to
look up the posts that match your search, then build the page and send
it.

Consider yourself lucky that fate took that temptation and calamity out
of your way and reduced the Harm's Way" exposure.

No! Don't do that!

Very good. Why cheapen that lean mean fightin' machine system you now
have with that pitiful bloated DPC 2.0 mess? If, however you should
change your mind .. er loose it .. you can download a better release of
2.0 later.

That's all you need; that's all you need.

I'll let someone else answer that .. besides there should be some
mysteries left to DPC besides .... "when do FAP hit?" ... one never
knows, do one ...
