I heard a rumor that Kevin Filan was arrested for computer
crimes and is being questioned by several Federal Agencies.
I didn't believe it at first, but when I tried to e-mail
him, I got my mail returned "user unknown". I then went a
step further and tried to click on his well-advertised site
and IT'S GONE.

WHERE'S KEVIN?

From his postings:

Kevin Filan http://www.ultinet.net/~harwer
har...@ultinet.net

"The World's Smallest Systems Administrator"
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I tried these links and they don't work. If anyone can solve
the mystery please help me. I need to contact Kevin as I am
very concerned for his well-being.

Thank you.

I _did_ notice that his website was down, but that could be for any number
of reasons.

If true, another argument against advertising your
"non-mainstream" ideas and interests under your own

Yes, I have confirmed that the rumor IS true. I spoke to
Kevin who is being detained at the Federal Building in NYC.
It seem as though Mr. Filan's constant alleged criminal
abuse of the USENET system finally caught up with him. It
also seems as though Kevin had an alleged outstanding
warrant by the Georgia State Police in connection with
alleged illegal "unauthorized" computer access he made at
the University of Georgia nearly four years ago. Kevin does
send his love to the group and assures everyone that he will
be back soon. He hopes. He is asking that for your support
in this very trying time.

>step further and tried to click on his well-advertised site

Yes it is, due to the ongoing criminal proceedings his ISP
Ultinet has suspended his account, thus erasing his popular
internet site.

>WHERE'S KEVIN?

Again, he is in the Federal Building, NYC being questioned
by federal Agents.

Unfortunately, this signature will need to be changed.

Please let us join virtual hands and hope for a speedy
return of our beloved, Kevin Filan.

Daemon Egan, I am immpressed. Would you please try it again?
This time try it on Xloppytuna he does not beleive in curses and
deserves one. Rev Schlesinger does more damage to the CoS
membership efforts than anyone else, so cursing him would be counter
productive. Besides Rev Schlesinger has suffered enought with his
gay lover Herman Slater passing away due to aids.

Hmmmm. Very interesting--this newsgroup is livening
up. A real Mathers-Crowley type spell-feud seems to be
in the offing. It is interesting that any COSers
would deny the effectiveness of spellcasting, when
ASL so often cited his infamous curse of Sam Brody.

Didn't Crowley counsel keeping a jar of your own
urine in the fridge as protection? I remember
reading about David Bowie trying that. Then again,
maybe it was all the cocaine (sniff).

Anyone living in in a world so deluded that they believe in
curses is just sad. If he has been arrested it's because he got
caught doing something he should not have been doing. A curse has
nothing to do with that. In fact it sounds like more wiccan
bullshit.

Curses = Wiccan bullshit?

OK, whose brand of Satanism is this? Certainly not
Anton LaVey's -- he often stated his belief in the
power of magic (including curses), although he didn't
like the "pretentious" Crowleyan addition of the "k".
Check the description of the "private destruction ritual"
against Sam Brody in _The Secret Life of a Satanist_, p 109.

One doesn't have to accept an anthropomorphic Satan in
order to believe that a focused, adrenal burst of energy can
help cause changes to occur in comformity with the will.
You can't "see" radio or television signals either,
but that doesn't mean they aren't there. Satanism,
I thought, was about balancing the rational and
irrational, the Apollonian and the Dionysian -- not
about denying the existence of anything suprasensory.

Read his post again. He was speaking in reference to another poster's
statement that curses sound like "Wiccan bullshit." You must have only
read the first sentence of his post, because your response makes no

You're right, it is "madness." The harnessing of
madness for a purpose, that is.

Anyway, you can tell "them" (the FCOS) yourself. I haven't
heard that they were into animal sacrifice or Lotto
forecasting. I think you're shifting the grounds of
the argument a tad.

Let me turn the tables: Can you say for sure that a "curse"
or whatever you want to call it, is just superstition?
I'm not telling you what to think, but if you totally
discount the notion of the irrational and the occult,
why bother with Satanism: why not just stick with other
forms of atheistic rationalism? Correct me if I'm
wrong, but I don't think there's _any_ major Satanic group,
including the COS, that totally discounts the practice of
higher magic, or magick, or whatever.

BTW, I forgot to mention, I think that the gentleman
in question was quite well-known to the FCOS, and
he certainly had made the particulars of his life,
including his image, quite readily available via his
web site, etc. So I think this goes a little deeper
than just two random Net posters throwing curses at
each other. Of course, you'll believe what you want
to believe, and ultra-rationalism is a belief just
like any other.

I would say that is "madness." Power impinges upon your
life every second of the day. You were speaking before
about your job: do you really think you'd go to work
if you hadn't been coerced into it by years of
training and indoctrination through school and TV?

"Power" is diffuse and operates in all kinds of ways, not
all them readily apparent -- just like "curses," perhaps.

Keep this in mind: the people with the real money and
sovereignty don't work. You work so they don't have to.
They have "all the time in the world." Your time is
their money. "They" do have power over you, lots of it.
It's a curse!

If work was so great, the rich would have kept it
for themselves.

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot that to say you are part of a system of
beliefs that you agree with most of the points of, also requires you
to accept the other parts of it which you may think are bullshit. Dina
doesn't have to Codify anything, just say to say to themself, Ok, this
stuff works for me, but I think this stuff is crap.

There are quite a few things wrong with this statement.

Nope, I'd say my boss is what coerced me into it. My first cousin
and boss woke up one morning and offered me a job. of course, I know what
you mean, though. That is just life...

Nope, it's just the way the world works.
If I create something... say.. the worlds first remote controlled
lawn mower. (Don't laugh, I'd buy one) patent it, put my name on it,
and hire people to build them for me in factories I set up... that's
business. It could happen to anyone with ambition.

What I am disputing is being able to "curse" someone in the oldest
sense of the word. As in spells, mind over matter, mojo.

From what I was told, and from what I understand it is a
deep, profound philosophy. I could not possibly become a devil worshipper,
because I do not believe in a Devil.

Whoops, used a keyboard shortcut and mistakenly sent the wrong thing. I guess
that means this is take 2.

>Dina <nadin...@geocities.com> wrote:

Ok, as I attempted to say before, there are a few things wrong with what you
are saying here. (Well, to me anyway.)

One cannot say that magic only works on a subconscious level. Since magic is a
conscious act wouldn't it make sense to think that it can also be used as a
psychological reinforcer? I mean in some ways magic is akin to positive
thinking in overdrive.

Another thing wrong with what you have said is "you cannot control someone
else's destiny"
Well, to believe in the concept of destiny is in a way, to believe that there
is some type of 'man behind the curtain' controlling the show. Meaning that
destiny is the idea that everything is already pre-planned and no one has any
type of control over ones life.
Sorry, if I'm being nit picky...

The biggest problem I have with this, is what about those of us who have had
results? Are you going to say that we are all crazy? Or that what we have
experienced has been all coincidence?

I've no doubt that the self-magic can work as a form
of hypnosis, sure. I'm not trying to minimize the
seriousness of the subject. I think events can be
influenced, but like anything else, it's something
in which expertise must be acquired. I think that too
many people get some fanciful notion of throwing curses
around when they don't know what they're doing. It's
not something that can be approached lightly, which is
why LaVey correctly tended to downplay that aspect of Satanism.
Unfortunately, the allure of power is the first thing
that draws many powerless types to the religion.

Satanism draws "Nazi" types for the same reason that
"magic[k]" does: the allure of power for people who
are lacking it in their lives. The rather illogical
assumption on the part of such types is that under
such a system, _they_ would be among the elite.
Personally, I think fascist systems are essentially
anti-Satanic, as they restrict the will-to-power.
And although his ideas were taken out of context and
exploited by ol' Adolph, Nietzsche was anti-fascist, as
much as some would probably like to think otherwise.

My condolences. Try amazon.com.

Sounds good to me.

I think ASL is a good starting point for what you're looking
for. After that, you might want to check out some of his
influences, like Nietzsche, and some literary manifestations of
Satanism. There's good stuff listed on the alt.satanism FAQ (one
very Satanic book is J-K Huysmans'_Against Nature_). All
are pieces of the puzzle.

So Egan, when are you going to begin replying to the posts *uploaded*
[heh heh] by a so-called "MrHarwer," who seems to be Kevin Filan
himself! Is he simply lying about working overtime, or has your curse
not yet had its effect? Perhaps it has, perhaps you do have some
magical ability; he did lose his [previous {dime a dozen}] ISP. Ha!

Enlighten us, O great and wise master of black magic. Surely, with
your powers of divination, you know the *REAL* story. And of course, you
certainly WOULDN'T be afraid to let us know the *TRUTH* about the
effects of your curse on Kevin Filan. Or would you?

After 15 hours of intense masturbation in his bathroom (his ritual chamber)
he managed to cause Kev to need to urinate. Of course, this could have
been a natural occurance, but the dark lord satan told him he'd caused it.
