BT British Nautical Awards accepts nominations
United Kingdom

Southampton — The new BT British Nautical Awards will
present the Yachtsman of the Year Award, the Young Sailor of
the Year Award and eight other category awards at the 2000
London International Boat Show.

The new awards organization, an amalgamation of the
previously separate Royal Yachting Association (RYA),
British Marine Industries Federation (BMIF) and the Yachting
Journalists’ Association (YJA) Awards, was created to
enhance the prestige of the awards and strengthen
sponsorship opportunities.

Nominations for the awards are now welcomed from the general
public or from members of any of the participating
organizations. A panel of judges, headed by Peter Nicholson,
will select six nominees in each category. Products may also
be nominated for certain awards. RYA and YJA members will be
voting by mail for the prestigious Yachtsman of the Year
award.

Presentations will be made at the Millennium Boat Show Ball
on 7 January, to coincide with the opening of the London
show. There will also be a public presentation ceremony on
the main stage at the boat show.

Please take a few moments to nominate me, Capt. Neal, for
the Yachtsman of the Year award!

Thank you.

Right, I'll submit that for you plus a copy of all your anti-Brit posts. That
should impress them.

I figured you were holding out for the Pulitzer. Now should it be
Literature or the Peace prize?

More like "Piece" prize.

Whatever his other myriad faults, I had always thought "capt. neal™" was
at least a "man" of principle. Since he has in the past made clear his
disdain for British yachtsmen (or yachtspeople), why would he want to be
nominated for one of their awards?

It's just this type of lax morals on the part of hairy-eared, crusty old
men that is ruining this country and sailing in general! FOR THE LOVE
OF GOD, NEAL! Come to your senses, man!

Cheers.

As someone who doesn't always see eye to eye with the RYA, I think
you're exactly what they deserve!
