While L. Ron. Hubbard was a genius, he displayed one of the usual
shortcomings of geniuses. He failed to understand how manipulative many in
the general population really are. He tended to view the world through the
lens of his own ,innate goodness and overlooked the fact that there is
abundant evil in the world that must be held vigorously at bay at all times.
LRH created Scientology and actually hoped and expected billions of people
would be greatly improved by it. He believed he could be instrumental in
the rapid evolution of the human race into a more perfect form.
Instead, what LRH put into place was an advanced psychological training
ground for greedy, power hungry, strong-arm type people to learn novel and
effective methods of control and exploitation over unsuspecting, sincere
people, most of whom were misled into thinking they could progress through
the hierarchy to become almost god like. What these hapless folks failed to
understand is the higher-ups could only remain higher-ups by standing on
backs of the magnanimous oppressed and disadvantaged.
LHR failed to put into place safeguards over everyday human selfishness,
greed, manipulation and corruption. This is where he went wrong. He failed
to recognize God, therefore he could not recognize Satan either.
While I do believe Hubbard was not the greedy, power hungry type himself,
those of that ilk soon rose to positions of power in the organization and
when he died they quickly took hold of the reigns and it's been pretty much
out of control and downhill from then on.
