Democracy, Mann continues, is the only system built on respect for the infinite dignity of each individual man and woman, on each person’s moral striving for freedom, justice and truth. It would be a great error to think of and teach democracy as a procedural or political system, or as the principle of majority rule.

Так автор этой публикации - типичный дем-пропагандист.- достаточно
полистать его предыдущие статьи, чтобы убедиться. И очень напоминает
того студента из анекдота про блох: "а что касается этого и этого, то

я, конечно, понимаю, что "нет денег - сиди и не лечись" - это тоже такая форма respect у некоторых

но у меня, в свою очередь, нет respect к такой форме respect'а

По-моему, ты путаешь respect each individual for with a form of robbery
of yours truly.

Respect for persons is the concept that all people deserve the right to
fully exercise their autonomy.

так как там насчёт персонального эгоизма?
