WELL READ THIS:.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT A FAMILY THAT CAME INTO OUR SHELTER RECENTLY. THEY CAME

WORK, BUT IT PAID MINIMUM WAGE. THAT WAGE DID NOT EVEN BEGIN TO PAY FOR RENT,
FOOD, UTILITIES, ETC. (ADD IT UP AND YOU WILL SEE). THEY HAD NO FAMILY OUT
HERE, AND ALL THE CHURCH-RUN SHELTERS WERE FULL. SO THEY HAD TO GET
GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE, BECAUSE HE AND HIS FAMILY WERE LIVING IN THEIR CAR.

RENT HERE IN CALIFORNIA FOR A FAMILY RANGES FROM $600 TO $1200 A MONTH, AND UP.
HOW WILL MINIMUM WAGE COVER ALL THEIR COSTS. THE WIFE CAN'T WORK BECAUSE SHE

Greedy? Guilty as charged. I am proudly greedy. I worked very, very hard to
get where I am today. I sacrificed much, and it paid off. And I'll be damned
if I'll let some liberal pantywaste like you take it away in unfair,
confiscatory taxes.

How about sell their car, first of all. Obviously they can't be TOO badly
off, if they could afford to drive from the south to Cali. That's alot of
gas. Second, the husband COULD get another job, work part time. I did. Many
others do. It's called work. It's called sacrifice. It's called doing what
you have to to provide for your family.

Stop coddling these people, libdope, and make them earn it.

First,

Why in the hell did they move from the south? There is plenty of menial
work available and the COL is much less.

Here is how this "victim" should do it (it being live, raise a child etc.):

1) Get as many minimum wage jobs as he has to to work 60 hours a week.
Eighty hours, if he is a man, which he probably isn't. He should clear
$16,000/year. Not a king's ransom, but pretty damn good.

2) His wife should learn how to cook cheaply. This is easily done. Rice,
bread, PB, eggs, etc.are cheap. They won't eat like kings, but they don't
DESERVE to. They also need to put aside enough money to meet their baby's
needs. Yes, the child needs to be the only focus of their lives; he didn't
screw up like they did.

3) All clothes should be bought at discount places like the salvation army,
goodwill, etc. Kmart, Wal-Mart and Target are reserved for those rich
folks.
In addition, the wife should learn how sew to keep learn clothes in good
repair.

4) Medically, they are going to have to rely on hand-outs.

5) NO MORE COITUS until they are responsible enough to take care of the
extra children. Having children that one can't afford is akin to
child-abuse (I don't make excuses for people like you do). If they can
never take care of another child (this one is probably all they can
reasonably hope to provide for) they should look into way's of turning the
tap off. I'll chip in. Until then, ORAL BUT NO COITUS. Just like Monica and
Bill. Hey, they could even role play.

6) Time to start planning the youth's exodus from stupid poverty. They need
to make education the focus of the child's young life. They should look for
used books at garage sales, literature as well as old (70's, 80's)
textbooks on math, grammar, science, etc. The kid needs to work on his
mental abilities. By the time the child turns 18, he should have a
scholarship to a premier school and the work ethic to make it useful. One
day he will be a selfish jerk and you can bash him as spoiled and out of
touch. The kid will learn to read in the public schools, but the rest
cannot be counted upon. Anyway, every successful student is really his
parent's creation. Any parent who leaves his child's education to the
Teacher's Union is a buffoon.

It seems like a plan to me. It will be hard, hard work, but it will pay
off.

well said, dean. greed---aka "enlightened self-interest" is the ONE emotion
that one can possess that most helps and benefits others. when you act in your
own self-interest----within the law and morality, of course (this excludes,
then, typically LIBERAL greed)----there is nothing you can do which does not
benefit me greater than any philantropy or charity imaginable.

you work---you create wealth. you spend it on goods. this gives me a job.
you bank it. the bank lends me money to build a house. the builder hires
carpenters, and on and on and on, the wonderful unseen and benevolent, even
miraculous movement of adam smith's "unseen hand."

you work, you create wealth, you take care of your FAMILY. your strong family
unit, your kids' values, etc etc, spills over and rewards all society.

i have never figured out where liberals think incentive would come from in
their collectivist, egalatarian world. greed has motivated the greatest
accomplishments in history. for example, the health, leisure, lifestyle, life
quality and actual length of life on earth has been enhanced by bill gates more
than any single human in history.

who will pursue the medical cures? who will pursue the quality-of-life
improvements which have so many ancillary effects, including the creation of
discretionary time and means so that man can spend time on his spirituality?

a liberal would be the LAST one to do ANYTHING if there were not something in
it for HIM. but, that's ok. i don't expect ANYONE to work for nothing.
though the liberals expect everybody ELSE to work for nothing or for some
state-defined "good"----this is also known as slavery or socialism. socialism
is the slavery liberals wish to impose upon their fellows.

freedom---free markets, capitalism----WORKS. AND is morally right. what an
unbeatable combination!

Biggest mistake was moving to California. I do not even recommend
that for college grads. Texas has more jobs and a lower cost of
living.

I would help them move out of California. The south has a better
track record for job production anyway. Makes me wonder why
they left. And why they were so dumb as to follow a job ad without
researching it.

No, help them. But do not enslave them in our welfare system.
It does not help the poor rather keeps them out of sight.

Before you go bitching about right wingers, look at the environmental
movement. Many are calling for sterilization after one child for folks
like you just described. You forget, the Left has its share of wealthy
too. And the self focused. We hear from them all the time, especially
in Alt.Law-enforcement on drug issues.

Jesus was neither. The Sadducees (the Priests) were the liberals,
into reincarnation, drugs and so forth. The Pharisees were the original
family values crowd, moralistic and preachy. Jesus pissed both sides
off. The conservatives preach but do not care. The liberals talk but hold
their nose and expect the poor to kiss their ass. Both sides can go to
hell.

No problem with anything you said, netloon.

EXCEPT, that you want to control the "laws" and define the "morals"
that you make as precepts to individual pursuit.

And that's what the issues are about.

When we dragged you conservatives out of decades of entrenched
unrestrained personal accumulation of wealth, out of entrenched use of
state and local law to segregate, discriminate, disenfranchise,
subjugate, you became rabid, and whined all the way.

When we used judicial activism to right some of societys ill caused by
generations of conservative complacency, you went ballistic. You're
mad because we take part of your money to "fix" some of the inequities
that YOU created over those years of greed and ignorance.

It's only fitting that you do pay for it. Minorities arrived at where
they are today, by generations of YOU keeping them poor, uneducated,
slaves, second class citizens until it became an entrenched way of
life. And, in many cases the south and parts of the north are still
like that.

The unfettered accumulation of wealth has already been tried, and,
fellas, that failed too. Being able to spout Smith and economic
theory without taking into account the social ill that are enherent,
or reality of history is what makes your arguments stupid.

The small grain of fact and truth that you posted addresses none of
historical problems that caused us to shift away from that in the
first place.

The prepoonderance of conservative thought, especially the social
part, is abjectly devoid of reasonable discourse about why things had
to change.

If you stop whining long enough, the rap against clinton and fiscal
policy has pretty much been that he's taken conservative fiscal
politions and used them as his own. And if it's good for the country,
then it don't make any difference whose ideas they are.

On social issues, you guys are morally, ethically and politically
bankrupt. You haven't got the intellectual integrity to read history
and accept that less than a generation ago, much less two,
conservative social positions were destroying this country.

Trying to return to that time is a nonexistent goal

Nice try libidiot. If the dude is stupid enough to take minimum wage,
then he deserves what he gets. Even McDonald's pays >$6.00 per hour.
Even here in the middle of nowhere, driving a sugar beet truck pays $9.00,
working on a turkey ranch pays $10.50 + benefits + they'll even send a
shuttle bus to your door and pick you up for work! Furthermore, rent here
for a 2 bedroom runs around $400 to $500 heat and water included, security
building, garage, and indoor pool. If this dude can't get an above
minimum wage job, then he must have some serious problems. Is he an
alcoholic, a drug abuser, or a convicted felon? If he can drive all the
way to CA, he can certainly drive to the midwest and maintain a decent
standard of living at a relatively low cost.

This is too much. Let me tell you a real life story about me.

1992 I got out of the Army after 6 years of service. I was an
infantryman, the only marketable skill I had was I could kill people and
blow things up. We had no money either.

We lived with my folks in the basement of their house. I worked for
cable company barely making more than minimum during the day and my wife
emptied bed pans at night at a old folks home for barely over minimum wage.
We lived in that basement for six months until we were on our feet. Then we
got a cheap and I mean cheap apartment. We lived there until I got a big
promotion, because I worked harder than anyone else, and a big raise. We
never whined about anything or ran and got unemployment, which I could have
received, we did what we had to do to make.

Now I am self-employed, my wife is testing for her Real Estate license
next month. We are winning not because of a handout or any help from Sugar
daddy government, but because of our hard work. We are saving more money a
month than what we made just a few years ago. We went without when we
didn't have money. Now we can do more than most people could dream about.
The funny thing is we would rather save our money than waste it on things
that other people think they would die without. We give money to a large
number of charities.

For every person that fails there are a bunch of people like me, who
have won. The thing is you only fail when you stop trying. So take your
whining to somebody who cares. In Proverbs it also says if you don't work,
you don't eat.

I say move someplace where the rent is cheap. even in NY, tax rate capital
of the lower 48, you can be less than 20 miles from a big city where jobs
are, and pay $400 a month for half a house, or even an entire house. won't
kill the kids to share a room. They obviously have a car -

now, some questions.

1. why would you move 2000-3000 miles to work minimum wage?
2. where would you get the money for this move? Esp. assuming the guy was
out of work to start with.
3. why would you have kids if you can't afford to take care of them?
4. did they by any chance move there from Arkansas?

As an aside, I'd like to move out of NY state, but haven't because I won't
go live off my friend in another state for any length of time - I went and
tried to find work first, so far not much luck though.

Of course, he was probably not in the same league

Good thing, too.

Here's what we do... Loan the guy a few bucks (I would do it personally
for any of my friends) for a nice suit. Help him write up his resume on
my computer and print it out on my laser printer. Go through the
literature they hand out for free at any University on how to look for and
interview for a job. Practice with him. Search the Sunday paper with him
for openings. Help him write a letter to the companies hiring people with
his qualifications. Give him $5.00 for gas to drive to the interview.
Meanwhile, he can work two part-time jobs or a full-time and part time at
any fast food joint or gas station to pay the bills until he gets the job
that fits him best. I would do all these things personally for him and I
would do it OF MY OWN FREE WILL! That's the difference between a
conservative and a liberal. Liberals would ratherforce others to help
people than actually go through the effort to do it themselves. Anyway,
after he gets the job he likes, I would take him out and buy him a beer.

There. I gave you your answer, and it did not involve any government
intervention at all and is fully consistent with my conservative-leaning
views as well as with Jesus' statement that "...when you did it unto the
least of these my brethren, you did it unto me."

Question:

Why do you feel that you justufy the federal government "taking care" of
the poor with the words of Jesus? Did it ever occur to you that maybe he
was talking about personal giving of one's own time and efforts to help
others? This does not at all jive with the "the government should take
care of them" philosophy of liberals who feel that their duty to humanity
is to take someone else's money and give it away.

OK, you want the answer? You got it. Let him find help from churches,
private charitable orgranizations, or other sources. Or let him work harder
and smarter. But keep him out of my pocket. And if it comes to it, yes, let
them starve. Serves them right for making bad choices. Why should I do the

The Wisdom of Louis Farrakahn:

BEGIN QUOTES:

1.) "You wonder why I call it Jew-nited Nations...Jew York City...Jew-niversity. Because you control
it."

2.) "Because the juice [O.J. Simpson] did it better than anyone else they made a hero of him, so they
could make money off him.... And now they sic a white woman on him because they don't want the
money to go out of the family."

3.) "You're being set up for the slaughter, because they [whites] know you are the people of God."
When rich whites need a kidney or a heart, they say, "get us a nigger! When you're killing each
other, they can't wait for you to die. You've become good for parts."

END QUOTES

Do liberals believe all this? It didn't come from a conservative that makes it all true I guess.

What does Farrakahn have to do with anything?
Maybe when he runs for political office in a major
political party - the way Pat Robertson has - you
might have a point.

Until then, you don't.

Why must you use such disparaging remarks in your response? The premise from the begining was incorrect
and that was the point. I am sorry that you are unable to see it. Pat Robertson and his beliefs are not
indicative of conservatism. Some of his views may coincide with mainstream conservatism others may be in

If making bad decisions justifies giving him a "living wage" without working,
I want to be stranded on Hawaii (at your expense). Why don't you send him
AND his family to the mid-west. The cost of living here is low and the
unemployment rate has been below 2% for several years. Anyone who wants to
work can get it. The only people who don't have a job don't want one--but
they still want me to pay for their permanent vacation. And they want a

Still using this old line? You still have not explained Luke 22:36 "HE said
to them: "Now, however, the man who has a purse must carry it; the same with
the traveling bag. And the man without a sword must sell his coat and buy
one." Jesus was not a whiney liberal. He taught what was just and fair. He
fought evil. Liberals are just the opposite.

I would hope that we are all liberal, in the sense that we would extend care to
those truly in need. I know that in my community, volunteerism and charity are
very active components of the day-to-day. No force used or required. This is in
opposition to socialism, which requires the application of force to achieve the

know; where high school kids have to do community service in order to
graduate.

Had a neighbor in Spain who was "volunteered" for the division which was
sent to help Hitler take Russia. This sounds like the kind of volunteering
he would recognize.

It DID come from a "conservative", meathead. Just that he's black. Same
basic attitude as the white "conservatives", only seen from a different
point of view. The basic thing is to badmouth "other", and he does it
just as good as Rush or Gordy. No, better. You just don't see it because
he badmouths another "other". But he's every bit as responsible and
mature as all those white whiners, and every bit as "conservative" in
the current perverted meaning of the word.
