There have been many Republican and Libertarian politicians claiming that the Democrats have been violating American Constitution. Because so many people are saying this, this claim must be answered.
As any student of Christianity knows, far more important than obeying the letter of the Bible is obeying its spirit. The people who obeyed the letter and not the spirit were known as Pharisees. These people followed the Biblical law, but they did it for wrong reasons. They did it for social climbing and holier-than-thou one-upmanship and not for the love of God.... more »

I am continuing to run into such sentiments as "Obama is a Communist" and "Democrats are the enemy of America." My question is, when will these people ever learn?
If Obama had been a Communist - or a Hitler, or a totalitarian, or anything else of which these people accuse him - then these people would be in a labor camp, or else they would be dead. Instead they are free to spread their propaganda, using government-built Internet of all places, without encountering any kind of legal prosecution. Which means either that these people are completely misjudging the the situation and are sincerely deluded or that they are lying. A real totalitarian would have them all in labor camps; and since they are not in labor camps it is ridiculous to portray Obama as anything like a totalitarian, a Communist or a Hitler.... more »

Muslim Americans: Apprehend Terrorists Among You

There are many Muslims in America who claim that they are not terrorists and that they want to live in peace.
If that is the case, then they need to do more to apprehend the terrorists among them.
When peaceful Muslims fail to stop those among them who want to be terrorists, they become guilty by association. And that draws down all sorts of nastiness against the Muslim people, including everything from rank racism to religious attacks from those Christians who think that Christianity is the only true religion.... more »

Refuting Political Correctness

Many people detest political correctness, but there have not been enough credible arguments made against it. I have given thought to the matter and came up with rational refutations of some of their central claims. I do so as someone who fully supports women's rights - both to safety at home and a fulfilling life outside the home - but recognizes that, in order to regain viability, feminism needs to change course from political correctness and into a movement that actually benefits women.
