Just heard 19th Nervous Breakdown by the former keyboard player for
the Grateful Dead (forget her name). Got me thinking about how many
Stones cover versions there are. Under My Thumb by Streetheart has
always been a fav of mine. Perhaps you have some fav cover versions of
Stones tunes.

Any Tina Turner cover version is a good one also.

Kind of like Marianne Faithfull's version af "As Tears Go By" which was
written by Mick and Keith for her.

As a matter of fact The Stones first recorded the song later, s I guess her
version does not qualify as a cover version strictly speaking.

Can't recall any covers on record by Tina Turner but remember her and Mick
doing a cover version of It's Only Rock'n'Roll at a Live Aid Concert, I
belive it was. It worked pretty well as far as I can remember

There have been som pretty horrible covers. I believe that Britney Spears
contributed with a horrible version of Satisfaction.

I am not too crazy about Melanie's version of Ruby Tuesday either - guess it
is mostly because of her little girlie voice which I really don't like.

My apologies for drifting slightly off topic.

I like Gram Parson's cover of Wild Horses.

The Dead never had a female keyboard player however, presumably you're
referring to the keyboard player who was married to the female singer who
were both in the band through most of the 1970s--Keith and Donna Godchaux.
DG has indeed performed "19th Nervous Breakdown."

You are correct.

I really enjoy the JJF version done by Johnny Winter.

Listened to the Leon Russel version of JJF for the first time and I
enjoyed it.

It's one of the highlights of Johnny Winter And, Live.

The loooong live version which turns into "Young Blood" and then back into
"JJF" is especially good--it's on Leon Live originally issued in 1973 and
currently available on a double-CD release.

He does the same medley on the "Concert for Bangladesh."
