I don't agree with your criteria. To me, a One-Hit Wonder is an artist
who only had one single that made the Top 40. I think most people who
worked in radio would agree that the term ONE-HIT doesn't mean "ONE #1
HIT."
If you extend this to Norm's definition, which insists that these people
had only one charted single (total), then here's a list of all the One-Hit

*bzzzzzzzzt* I'm sorry, but that's not the answer we're looking for. It
was Sister Janet Mead who had that #4 hit in 1974, outside the range of
this newsgroup.
The original Singing Nun only had the one charted U.S. single, period. No
follow-ups, though she did release an album (if memory serves).

Two or three albums, actually - I used to live in Pittsfield, MA
(where the major religious denominations are Irish Catholic, Italian
Catholic, Polish Catholic, and French-Canadian Catholic), and I
rarely went to a yard sale without seeing at least one Singing Nun
album.
(I am pissed off to this day that "Dominique" kept "Louie Louie" from
the #1 position on the Billboard "Hot 100" - hell, you can't even
understand any of the words!)
At least one of her LPs, incidentally, was packaged as a gatefold with
the French lyrics and an English translation - at least three years
before the Beatles' 1967 novelty record "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts
Club Band", which is often cited to this day as the first album to
include printed lyrics.

Yeah, I understood the words to "Louie, Louie" right away.

Yeah, I just looked it up, and two of her albums charted in the U.S., and
the first (the one with "Dominique") was #1 for a whopping 10 weeks, which
is incredible for 1963.

You forgot about "Come go with me".
Now this leads to an interesting situation. First of all the Dell
(Del) Vikings split up and a new group was formed with most members of
the original group. This group recorded for Mercury while one of the
founding members of the group stayed with Dot and picked up some new
members and kept the original name with two LLs. Now does this
Mercury group with the new spelling qualify as a different group in
relationship to this thread? The Mercury group in and of itself with
the different spelling never had a chart record before or after "Cool
Shake". So depending on how this is treated, it can be or can't be a
"One hit wonder".

Not exactly true. Though The Del Vikings and the Dell-Vikings had one or
two of the same group members, I consider them to be different groups, on
different labels. By that criteria, the Del Vikings are indeed a true
one-hit wonder even by Norm's strict rules -- only one Top 40 hit, and
that was also their only charted pop single.
The story is this (from my database notes):
"After their early 1957 hit "Come Go with Me," Dell-Vikings group member
Donald "Gus" Backus left after a dispute and started a new group called
³The Del Vikings² (with only one L). This was their only charted single."
I welcome any and all comments on the "Del Vikings vs. the Dell-Vikings"
controversy.
I used to live in Watertown, Mass. (near Boston), and the Dominican nuns
at the Catholic school I went to (Mt. Trinity Academy) recorded their
own song, which I remember hearing endlessly in school because the nuns
would play it over and over. I remember my eighth grade teacher being
very firm in telling us we should buy it. This was around '65. I did,
though some of my friends weren't so easily persuaded. I was an
impressionable little kid.
I could probably still recall the song if I thought hard enough, though
thankfully, I don't think the record survives in my collection today...
