The Sword - The first half of the set was unlistenable due to sound
problems, once they sorted it out the band managed another 3 songs.
The sound still wasn't great but at least I could hear them. Shame as
the 3 songs we heard were pretty good.
Machine Head - Musically they bored me stupid. Every song just blurs
into the next, with the exception of Davidian the entire set could
have been one long boring song as far as I was concerned. On a
brighter note the band played well and Rob is a good front man, sadly
they are let down by some piss poor songs.
Ok the tallica setlist was pretty good if you ask me, nothing from RtL
which was a shame but hey they ignored Load, Reload and St Anger
completely.

Overall a great set, the sound wasn't brilliant, however it was the
best I've ever heard at this venue (whoever heard of a purpose built
music venue with crap acoustics?). I thought the inclusion of Judas
Kiss should have been at the expense of Broken, Beat and Scarred
rather than All Nightmare Long, however the other new songs all seemed
to work really well in a live environment.
The band were obviously enjoying themselves and the atmosphere was
electric as their enthusiasm seemed to rub off on the sold out crowd.
It's always nice to hear a band mixing their setlist up a bit and the
inclusion of Harvest of Sorrow, No Remorse, Blackened, Killing Time
and Whiplash was welcome. The rest of the set although more
predictable was what a vast majority had come to see as songs like
Master of Puppets, Enter Sandman, Seek and Destroy, Wherever I May
Roam and One drew the most fanatical reception.
The lightshow is something else, a plethora of lasers and strobe
lights that add to the overall enjoyment of a band enjoying something
of a return to form. As much as they'll never be the band that they
were in 1986, they are still a damn fine live band, and on this form
they are well worth the price of a ticket even at these prices.
Yours was certainly a better set list. Still think the inclusion of 6
news songs was far too much. Still glad I went, despite what the
miserable fuckers think.
