As some of the luckier denizens of AMS should now have downloaded this
gig, I'll write a short blah on the gig.

The Sword - Missed these due to London's car-park, I mean roads.

Machine Head - Woefully bad sound, so muddy. If MH wanted to promote
themselves in front of 3/4 full stadium, then they really need to sack
their sound engineer. While I enjoyed the set, the people I went with
were none too impressed, mainly due to the poor sound.

Even when Rob was speaking to the crowd, I could only make out 1 word
in 3, even if I was lucky. A wasted opportunity.

Metallica - Not one of Metallica's best gigs. Musically they were
real tight, probably the best I have heard and the sound quality was
great. Just a shame the set list was a let down.

That Was Just Your Life
The End of the Line
Creeping Death
Holier Than Thou
One
Broken, Beat & Scarred
Cyanide
Sad But True
Turn the Page
All Nightmare Long
Kirk Solo #1
The Day That Never Comes
Master Of Puppets
Damage, Inc.
Kirk Solo #2
Nothing Else Matters
Enter Sandman
Too Late Too Late
Phantom Lord
Seek and Destroy

I am so bored with Creeping Death, Sandman and Nothing Else Matters.
Holier than Thou, Turn the Page and most of the songs from DM just
didn't come over that well for me. While I didn't have a complaint
about Jame's vocals on the new stuff (unlike on the studio versions),
they just seem to take momentum away from the gig.

Highlights, Damage Inc and Phantom Lord. The lights and fireworks
were good and added to overall fun along with Jame's banter. Overall
the gig was enjoyable, but could have been so much better.

They seem to have been swapping the set about but it`s always featuring
6 DM songs...I like the album but still think that`s too many. What is
"Too Late Too Late"?? Phantom Lord is pretty cool though...I agree 100%
with Enter Sandman and NEM but I can`t see them ever dropping them.

I`m seeing this tour on the 28th...bought tickets for the later date so
it wasn`t so close to the Priest Feast. I haven`t seen Metallica in 10
years ( and I walked away from them then to watch Marduk
instead...`Tallica were awful that night ). Kinda looking forward to it
although in retrospect I wish I`d bought tickets for Testament earlier
in the week instead!

For me they should have dropped Cyanide and maybe The End Of The
Line. Four new songs is really enough with a band such a great back
catalogue.

Too Late Too Late is a Motorhead cover.

I suspect the DM tunes will be the same as well as One, Sandman,
Master, NEM and S&D. They will throw in a cover version in there,
just hope it's one of the original $5.98 covers, as the newer stuff
just never hit the spot for me.

The gig.

I even liked most of DM, but Metallica as a whole just bores me more
with every passing year.

It was enjoyable even with the inclusion of a lot of DM. Could have
been so much more, but they put on a good show, which is what I paid
for.

They've bored me for most of the past 15-20 years.
