Its the Iron Maiden + bonus cd I want info on.
I've looked at at quite a few IM sites for info to no avail and then I found
this newsgroup.
heres what I know about it.
I think its a limited edition re-release.
Its a 2 disc picture cd. Iron Maidens 1st Album + bonus cd. I think it was
released in 1995 although the date on the Iron Maiden cd is 1980 and the
date on the bonus cd is 1995
the covers look like the original cover the date on the back cover is 1980.
the ean number is 7 24383 58682 0
has it been deleted, is it of any value, what would be a fair price for it
( for both parties)
have a look.

I don`t profess to be an expert on the various releases of Maiden albums
over the years but the "bonus" CD almost certainly looks to be from the
"First 10 Years" collection when all the original singles were re-released
as double EPs. This looks like the first one with Running Free and Women in
Uniform. I didn`t realise it had ever been released with the debut album as
well. On it`s own it`ll go for Ł10-15 on ebay ( in it`s original CD case ),
the individual disc would presumably go for significantly less. Whether this
edition with the 2 packaged together is worth anything I have no idea.
This is the 1995 Castle Records reissue - regular album + bonus disc of
the album's B-sides. I have no idea what it would be worth, but it's
been out of print since...1996? 97? Something like that.
You're not entirely correct here, the bonus disc contains the b-sides
from Running Free and Sanctuary. Women In Uniform was part of the
Killers reissue (which is worth quite a bit if you've got the American
one). Anyway, this thing has been out of print for about a decade (and I
can't remember seeing it in store even back then), but I don't really
know how much someone would pay for it.
Greets,

Well I did say I don`t proclaim to be an expert!

No, I can`t imagine it being worth a lot personally but a quick look around
ebay shows old Maiden CD singles going for surprisingly high prices ( over
£30 for Bring your Daughter...? ) so who knows? If a collector particularly
wants it then it`ll sell. Put it on ebay and see what happens!
I forgot to say on the first post that it was actually my first post on a
newsgroup and this post is my second.
It seems I got 4 replies here but I don't know how to answer them
individually.
so I hope it works this way.
the tunes on the bonus disc are
1 - Sanctuary.
2 - Burning Ambition.
3 - Drifter (live)
4 - I've got the fire (live).
I'll probabally sell the 4 cd's together as they have 3 different band
lineups.
I don't if the lineup changed again after 1995. but I think these 4 cd give
a good idea how the band changed and evolved in the first 15yrs.
I don't really follow IM (I can only name a couple of their bigger hits) are
they still going./

OK David...that`s fine - no reason to reply individually in a newsgroup,
that`s the point of them really. It`s generally considered good newsgroup
manners not to "top post" in replies as well ( not a moan - just for future
reference!! ). That bonus disc seems to confirm it`s the Castle re-issue
that others mentioned.
I wouldn`t advise selling them together...if the IM one *is* collectable the
buyer probably won`t be interested in the other 3. The X Factor in
particular isn`t considered a high point by most Maiden fans.
They have changed their line up since 1995, they released one more album
with TXF line up and then replaced singer Blaze Bayley with "classic" era
vocalist Bruce Dickinson in 1999. He also brought guitarist Adrian Smith
back with him who had been on most of the classic Maiden albums of the 80`s
and Bruces` solo work, keeping his replacement and giving the band 3
guitarists in total. Since then they`ve released 2 new studio albums, 2 new
live albums, a greatest hits package, a boxset of rarities and live
performances, 4 DVDs and 8 (?) singles...so yes they are definately still
around! They`re releasing a new album next month. Not sure where in the
world you`re from but here in the UK all those aforementioned releases have
been big chart successes.
The self-titled CD with the bonus disc is the limited edition EMI
re-release from 1995. The EMI versions were released in Europe. Its
North American counterparts were released on Castle Records. Both have
been out of print since thar year.
Just to clarify, this is not the First Ten Years release, nor the
Castle bonus disc release.
The difference between the EMI releases and the Castle releases is that
the Castles came with an insert featuring time period artwork and
details on the bonus disc songs. The EMI had X-Factor artwork in the
inner tray portion of the back insert where the information on the
bonus disc contents could be found. Also, the actual disc artwork for
all those releases was reversed; in other words, for example, the
"Running Free" artwork in this case was for the bonus disc on the
Castle release but gor the EMI release it was for the main disc.
This particular one is interesting because when the first album was
originally released, the song "Sanctuary" was part of the North
American release, but not part of the rest of the world release. The
Castle re-release has "Sanctuary" in the main disc, but the EMI version
has the song on the bonus disc.
For the collector, this is a pretty cool item, particularly for someone
(like me) who is trying to put the EMI collection together. How much
it will go for? It depends on how many are available at the time (on
E-Bay for example) when it's being sold, and who wants it. I've seen
them go as high as in the US$30 range. Usually somewhere between US$17
and US$30. For the casual fan, it probably won't be worth much.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
David.
