Greetings All -

I just took a look at the artwork Derek did for the Futureal 7" and the
fact that it's quite a bit in the vein of Powerslave prompted me to bring
something else up.

Has anyone taken a look at the artwork Derek did for Budgie's 1981 LP
"Nightflight"??? It's got, for lack of another term, a budgie style
creature standing in front of a pyramid in futuristic garb holding almost
the identical ray-gun that Eddie is holding in the Somewhere In Time cover.
As a matter of fact, the creature is in almost the same standing position
as Eddie. The first thing I thought of when I saw the cover art was that
it looked like a combination of Powerslave and Somewhere In Time. If
anyone is interested in seeing it I'll post it to my web site - you'll
notice the similarities instantly.

Maybe Derek had the painting from the 1981 Budgie cover hanging around when
he painted the Iron Maiden covers in the mid 80's! :~)

BTW, are there any other bands he's done artwork for?

Yes, he also did the artwork for "Atomic Winter". An album released by the
swedish band DESTINY in 1988:

The artwork that you mentioned for Budgie "Nightflight" can be viewed for
anyone interested here: http://home1.swipnet.se/~w-15184/drnightflight.jpg

Besides that he did some artwork for a role playing game called "Odyssey":

If anyone know some more official artwork that he has painted (besides these
three and the Maiden-stuff)? Let me know, ok?! Thanx...

The artwork on Bruce's Accident of Birth is also done by Riggs.

If you look closely at the yellow pyramid, to the left of the Budgie,
you'll see Derek's symbol. I was shocked to see it when I first got
the LP!

Where's the symbol?

Which picture are you talking about? It's very handy to quote a part of the
original message in a case like this.
