But they are an aquirred taste, and I have gotten used to them...so I was
wondering which Opeth to get next...I like the music clean and refined,
and complex, yet aggressive.
Thanks!

Before you buy.
>I recently bought "Still Life" from Opeth, and it is fucking incredible.

>"Wishmaster".
besides this "pairing" baffling me to no end......get ALL of the Opeth....they
are MUST HAVE albums!
>I couldn't stand the vocals...same with In Flames and Arch Enemy.
you are missing out on some great stuff here!
>I like the music clean and refined,

that's pretty much ANY Opeth release
Why? Those are both quality CDs...very well put together.

Yah, I finally realized that. They just took some getting used to. :)

I guess I just got scared of the Vocals then a yearo ago when I first
listened to them. :P I'll try them again.

well....the Opeth one is quality...as for Nightwish, i got that....and that is
a baaaad cd....nothing interesting going on at all. it's been done before, and
much better, by others.

i understand. if you ever get the chance to see In Flames live...do not
hesitate....they are outstanding.

well...now that you've seen the error of your ways.... ;-)......enjoy 'em!!
you can't go wrong with any Opeth release.

Do you just not like the softer metal? Or the vocals? Who's done the
opera vocals before with that progressive/power metal style with
keyboards?

I don't like any metal band live. Funny..I have about 300 metal cd's
ranging from Dream Theater to Cryptopsy, but I cannot stand metal band
live. Dream Theater was good...but all the other concerts sucked in my
opinion. I just don't like live metal...the guitars are hard to
decipher, it's too loud, and vocals like In Flames live?
Hah...gawd...that would drive me nuts! :P

I'll try to pick one up within the next week or two, I'll let you know
if it compares to Still Life. Hey, is it just me, or does the first song
on Still Life have a few parts that sound like the theme from "Dune"? :P
I also wanna check out the new Orphanage...

nah....i like lots of "softer" metal....i just was NOT interested in this
Nightwish at all....i didn't find her vox that good....music was tolerable, but
nothing mindblowing. as for operatic (or close to it) vox with stuff like
that....Tristania does it MUCH better. (they don't use as many keyboards
though...which is a good thing) also try The Sins of Thy Beloved or Theater
of Tragedy...not necessarily operatic...but still much better than Nightwish.

damn....you sure haven't seen the concerts i have then.....i've never had a
problem "deciphering" live metal guitars.
if you now like In Flames on cd....why wouldn't you like them live....they are
incredible!
although i listen to lots of different genres of music.....i absolutely have no
interest to see any other style of music live except for metal....i've seen
other styles before....none have been able to match the excellence of a metal
show.

never heard the theme from Dune, so i have no idea....but if it's anywhere
close to parts of an Opeth song, then it can't be too bad!! heh.
