Alright, so my voice is hoarse and my ears are still ringing 12 hours later. But I think I'm good to post a review.
Mike and I were supposed to hook up, but traffic was brutal. Fog, rain, and FOUR accidents on the way in to TO turned a 1.25 hour trip into over 2.5 hours, and we did some fancy shortcutting towards the end too. So we didn't hook up, despite a few calls. Maybe next time. Still, I had my signed BOD shirt on, so at least there was a scattered BOD presence.
I had upper level, far right of the stage. The stadium was enormous. If I'm going to give poor marks for anything in this show, it's how colossal the venue was. The paper says 45,000 people were there. I believe it. It was massive. Floor seats at the back would've sucked. The jumbotrons were small and right beside the stage, so they didn't help a lot. It was a MASSIVE venue (biggest 'DC show I've seen other than SARS). I prefer a smaller stadium crowd of 20K. I thought it was goddam loud, but my brother thought Montreal was louder. My ears are still ringing 12 hours later, so it was loud either way.
The opening band didn't play. Who cares? Unless they had a damn good reason, they were idiots for missing a crowd this big, and one of only two cracks at a Canadian audience. Instead, the PA played a ton of BUDDY GUY! I guess the guys still like him, despite the German fans' reaction!
They went on later than usual, at 8:45. Usual intro, kind of funny cartoon with girls mimicking doing all kinds of nasty things. The band kicked off with RnR Train (that my brother asked, why did they call it that instead of runaway train? the soon-to-be eternal question with no good answer). The set list was the same as before. Brian was fantastic, even if he dropped an octive for the odd bit. He wasn't hitting the highest notes, but his singing was crisp and powerful. He was all over the place, like in last tours when he made up a bit for Angus' less frantic pace. The rest of the band was ultra-tight, as befits the best rythym section in RnR. Angus was in good form, although he did make a few minor mistakes. But I think he's done that at most shows I've seen, so I certainly wouldn't agree with Top that he's significantly worse. Especially as the show went on, he started givin' it more and more. His usual LTBR extended solo was great, he ran all over, did the platform, etc. I took my piss break during The Jack, so I can't comment on his strip!
The best part of the show was hearing FIVE new songs. I think I've heard HAABPTB before, but the five new Black Ice songs were a welcome addition. Of the five, Anything Goes was my least favourite. Live, as well as studio. But it sounded better live, as did all the others. Big Jack and Black Ice improved the most live, RnR Train was massive, and War Machine was great, but perhaps the least improved live version (which says more about how much I like the studio version). One VERY nice bit was that Angus was throwing in lots of licks during the songs. Normally he doesn't do too much of that, but he was really jamming it out (just like on the album).
The show was tight, rocking, and predictable. No surprises for veteran fans, but since I love their shows, that was just fine with me! Same set list as before, and they were on for 1.75 hours. The crowd was loud, varied, and with lots of younger and older fans. They didn't know to chant Angus during Rosie, but oh well. They were loud.
Fun add-ons: Getting there was a bloody nightmare. Parking was $40!!! We didn't have time to screw around, so we paid. I even through Habib the attendent an extra $10 to let me park right at the entrance. My brother was like, wait, wait, but I just drove in, forcing the issue, the offered another ten. Problem solved. Beer was $10 for a big can of bud (god that's shit). Only two per person. I budded into the side of a big line, and when some guy complained a few minutes later, I went out of my way to let him know he could go first. That satisfied him and his buddies, meaning I could take my place behind them and save about 20 minutes of waiting! I then got to take four beers (instead of 2) by being nice to the guy pouring them. Took our seats, originally by some French chicks (not hot), then realized that they were wrong so we moved beside a couple that I swear, were 45-55 years old! Wow. And in front of my sat a guy who I guessed was 400lbs, my bro thought 500. Seriously, the guy couldn't sit in a seat and had to sit on the armrest of the aisle chair. Blocked my view, but I stood up the whole time so it didn't matter. If he didn't take an elevator to get up there, that guy must've had the workout of his life! A ton of pot was smoked. I didn't have any 'cause I was driving, but the people around me were freely sharing joints throughout the entire show. Gave a nice relaxed atmosphere. Bailed the second FTATR ended and beat the crowds out to a smooth ride home, through thick fog and heavy rain. Oh, and Brian substituted Canadian Thighs during YSMANL. The crowd went nuts for the song, but even for me, it's getting old. Angus' solo was beautifully crisp for it though.
A few more stories, but they're not public domain. No audience flashing that I saw. I saw a young women who had AC/DC Rocks written on her (ample!) chest. There were more words beneath those, so I'm guessing her top was meant to come off, but I only saw her on the way in. All in all, for the 'DC shows I've seen, this one ranks mid-way. A little too big and impersonal at times, but the FIVE new songs are something I've never had before (when was the last time they did that?) and I really enjoyed it. As usual, the last five songs TNT, WLR, LTBR, HTH, and FTATR were just mind-blowingly awesome amperage that were just...awesome! Man, I really love that string of tunes. And that's that. Maybe Mike will chime in with his impressions of the show.

I cannot believe they are selling that many tickets. And a second show there was added, wasn't it? I saw them both nights at the ACC on the SUL tour. The second night they were not able to sellout. I am really surprised they could fill the skydome now.
I think venues like that are just too big for me to enjoy. I was fortunate to catch them at a 8000 seat venue in WB. Years ago, I saw them at a smaller place in Binghamton NY. Unfortunately, I doubt they'll play smaller venues anymore.

Sold out within MINUTES. Being the only Canadian date this side of the Rockies certainly didn't hurt the ticket sales. And I didn't see any empty seats around me. It was PACKED. The bastards even secretly added more floor seats (just to the left and right of the first group of floor seats) and they sold out too!

I would definitely prefer to see them at a smaller venue. Roseland would've been nice. But the crowd was loud, rowdy, and had a great vibe. I have no complaints, especially if this is their last tour. Like I said, I was really happy to hear five brand new, never-played-live tunes. You just don't get that from 'DC too often!
Rogers Center or as it used to be called "Skydome" isn't the best venue to see a band. When its just "the bowl" there its not that bad. Bands used to play "the bowl" there until the ACC was built. Its been 8 years plus the Sarstock hype and a band of DC's status can fill the entire Dome like The Stones with ease.
I'd sooner see them in the ACC. Even if I go see DC on the 2nd leg of the NA tour sometime next year I'm guess, they'd have to play 2 night out here. Cowtown is growing super fast and one show doesn't cut it anymore.

First time I saw them in TO it was in the bowl I think. I thought it was MLG, but now that you mentioned it, the Bowl seems right. ACC was better though.

And what, exactly, is fucking wrong with being a 45 year old AC/DC fan?????
Tony it was TRE tour in the Skybowl. They had a minor delay with the sound during the show if I remember correctly. The ACC is pretty good for sound. Better than the old MLG. Ever gone to HSBC in BARFalo? I like the sound that place gives off. Out here The Saddle Dome is loud, I mean freakin' loud, all to do with that saddled roof.

Nothing, there were plenty of 40 somethings there. But these two just sat quietly in their seats, the woman looking very concerned about my fist-pumping and yelling out the chorus's. She looked very uncomfortable and old. On the other hand, the older guys behind me (mid-40s) were singing even louder than I was!

And what, exactly, is fucking wrong with being a 45 year old AC/DC fan?????

That's pretty impressive. Especially for an indoor show.

This is insane. No reason for parking to be more than $5 unless you are getting some special service. The AT&T Center (where AC/DC will play here) usually charges $10, which pisses me off. But just a few weeks ago I went to see NIN, and they were charging $15!! Getting out of control...

Indy was generally $5-$10 if you didn't mind walking a few blocks, one for $10 was right next to the arena and another for $25 right across the street from that. I happened to be able to arrive early enough and park on the street for FREE just outside the entrance ;-)
