I seriously doubt if you'll be playing the video of AC/DC w/ Bon Scott singing
"Baby Please Don't Go" at the office, right?
Let's see, computer skills you've got... and as for the rest, though, Rover's
totally different than working for the U.S. Government as a secretary like I
am... but no, I definitely don't wear a skirt and high heels.

I was acting in my official capacity as a visiting BOD dignitary to another

No to pile on, but I've been meaning to ask Bob.....Why are you so willing
(even eager) to continue in the employ of a corporation which has shown
itself so willing to treat you like a complete piece of shit? If I were in
your position, there would be no amount of money large enough for me to ever

Well that's obvious! Can you blame him for that? He's just using the

Dave,

I am really surprised by your lack of compassion here. What makes you think
it was ME who put my wife and kids through Hell?

If you knew all the facts then you wouldn't be so rash with your comments or
are you still annoyed over the 'Ejaculation story'

Rover have made me three offers of compensation - Does that suggest to you
that it is ME who is in the wrong?

You may sit there at home rolling your rizzla's all day but believe me
brother I have been to Hell & back. Last May I took an overdose - not
because I was mentally unstable but because of the way Rover have treated
me.

As you know I returned to work today only to find out that there have been a
number of jobs on offer for the past two years that I could have done.

To have a disability is bad - to be discriminated against because of it is
scandalous!!!!

NO - because if I were to seek employment elsewhere I would lose all my
rights to claim for any severence from Rover.

Remember they placed me on the Long Term Absence Register even though, for
the past two years I was deemed fit enough to return to work.

They claim that there has been no vacancies but I and my employment adviser

Rover are a Company that have had 9 years of blood, sweat and tears outta
me. To treat me like a piece of shit, as you correctly put it, means that
they are now choking by taking me back into employment. There are reasons

I think it was pretty clear. You seem to play to win or loose it all,
but remember Rover probably have "the card to bring you down" if they
want to. Try to get to know the colleagues around in your new position
and show them that you are in fact a real nice guy. That way you'll have
a chance to get people that Rover probably still care about to support
you in your fight for justice. And try not to talk so much about what
assholes you think the members sitting in the management of Rover are.
That will only create a bad atmosphere between the employees in your
department which in turn will make your boss nervous. And believe me,
even if he knows all about your story he's probably more anxious about
his own position than yours and will make sure that the management is
informed. And one thing that an employer really dislikes is a bad
working atmosphere, even if Rover have them selves to blame. They will
then wait for the first chance they get and then get you fired for good
(one tiny mistake and it's all over). Even if you don't feel like it,
try to be nice on the outside because your dealing with very slimy
creeps.

Very sad story of your life you have been telling us Bob. I wish you a
better future, you deserve it.

> I am really surprised by your lack of compassion here.

Are you implying that you expect compassion? Bob, if you don't want to be
criticized, then you need to stop laying bare your life story in a public
forum.

>What makes you think
> it was ME who put my wife and kids through Hell?

You have been *voluntarily* not working for two years, and there is no
guarantee that you will recoup any lost wages from this time. It seems to
me you're staking your future and that of your family on a proposition where
the risk to you far outweighs any potential reward. So don't overreact when
everybody doesn't instantly understand and embrace your point of view.

> If you knew all the facts then you wouldn't be so rash with your comments
or
> are you still annoyed over the 'Ejaculation story'

Bob, you keep accusing everyone of "not knowing the facts," but you
continually fail to explain them. You can't chide people for being
uninformed when you're making no effort to inform them.

> Rover have made me three offers of compensation - Does that suggest to you
> that it is ME who is in the wrong?

To be perfectly honest, it seems that questionable judgement has been
employed on both sides. You know, I hate to break it to you, but you can't
be 100% right and have them be 100% wrong. With any issue or argument,
there is merit on either side. I am not saying any of this to flame you,
I'm merely offering an objective analysis based upon available information.

> You may sit there at home rolling your rizzla's all day but believe me
> brother I have been to Hell & back. Last May I took an overdose - not
> because I was mentally unstable but because of the way Rover have treated
> me.

So now we're back to square one, Bob Fiddaman playing the eternal victim and
expecting unconditional sympathy from everyone. Christ, if I was home two
years, I'd damn well want to kill myself too. I was home almost two MONTHS
after my surgery this year, and I almost lost my mind. I was not a cool guy
to be around. It got so bad I went back to work before I should have, and
now my shoulder hurts like fuck all the time. But I decided I'd rather work
in pain than sit on my ass recuperating, because I had no business
subjecting my wife and children to my constant mood swings and petulent
bouts of depression.

Bottom line: It is MY OPINION that you have allowed self-absorption and a
vendetta with Rover to influence you in making decisions which have
benefited no one but been detrimental to your family. Now go ahead and get
all hyper-defensive if you must, but I'm not going to sit here and lie to
you about what I think.

> As you know I returned to work today only to find out that there have been
a
> number of jobs on offer for the past two years that I could have done.

Moral of the story: THEY WANT NO PART OF YOU. They didn't give you a sniff
until the press was involved, so what makes you think they won't manufacture
an excuse to fire your ass as soon as the reporters stop calling? For God's
sake, you're being SO naive about all this.

> To have a disability is bad - to be discriminated against because of it is

And to cry about it is pitiful.

Bob I don't think your telling the whole story to us. If Rover were being
dicks to you and only made 3 offers that got turned down BEFORE the press
got hold of the story then that should tell you something. It should tell
you that as soon as you fuck up, your fired. IT is evedent to me that Rover
doesn't like you for various reasons. I could care less what they are Bob
thats not my business.
I understand your situation Bob but something tells me you were maybe a
trouble maker at Rover before your illness and they used that as a loop hole
to fuck you over. There are two sides to every story Bob and we don't have a
member of Rover in here stating what you did or may have done at work. I'm
not taking sides here and shit, I hope things work out in your favour. But
I'm sure your not 100% the victim in this story as Rover isn't 100% right
either.
Anyway good luck in your battle.

BOB!!! Okay, *disclaimer* The US and the UK are obviously very differnt
socio-economically. I guess I'm done with this thread. Bob, you're a cool
BOD fellow and all, but you just don't get it. Who the hell put your family
through this hell? YOUR DOG!?! No Bob, IT WAS YOU!!! Yes, Rover did you a
wrong, or in my opinion, a perceived wrong. SO WHAT!!! Where was your
gumption to fend for yourself!?! My God, the UK has GOT To have other jobs.
Oh fuck it, I give up.

Let's 'stick' tothe facts here..... ba-dum-bum

> Rover have made me three offers of compensation - Does that suggest to you
> that it is ME who is in the wrong?

It doesn't suggest they were. It was a token settlement for you to go away
and leave them alone. It happens in business every day.

> You may sit there at home rolling your rizzla's all day but believe me
> brother I have been to Hell & back.

It seems you decided to make it an extended stay....

Last May I took an overdose - not

Bob, mentally unstable people are statistically the only people who attempt
to commit suicide. I know it's a cry for help and all, but..... oh this
is going from bad to worse.

> As you know I returned to work today only to find out that there have been

Did you really think there wasn't? And..... why didn't you know about them?
You said you were in constant communication with the human resources dept.
Or were you waiting for that 'golden phone call?'

So....we're all supposed to follow the pack and pass out sympathy cards??

Well...it seems to me that you had a choice 2 years back. You could have
picked yourself up and found a new job (thereby earning a fulltime salary &
supporting yoru family but forfitting the chance to become a secretary 2
years later and any possable payout)....or you could stand your ground and
fight the system for fucking you over. You chose the latter...and as a
result both you and your wife are poverty stricken and one step away from
straight jackets. Sure it wuz Rover who fucked you over (hey life sucks
sometimes) but it wuz YOUR decision that any possable payout (and the chance
to learn shorthand) wuz worth more than the misery you have attained as a
result.

> If you knew all the facts then you wouldn't be so rash with your comments

Facts or no facts Bob...I wouldn't have sat on my ass for 2 years going
after retribution which may or may not happen (no matter that they were in
the wrong).

> or are you still annoyed over the 'Ejaculation story'

Don't push me Bob....I'm not in the mood!!!

> Rover have made me three offers of compensation - Does that suggest to you
> that it is ME who is in the wrong?

When you put the foundation of your family in jepardy as a result of your
stubborness (sp.)....then yes it is YOU who is in the wrong.

> You may sit there at home rolling your rizzla's all day

At least I can afford to pay for my herb.

> but believe me brother I have been to Hell & back. Last May I took an
overdose - not
> because I was mentally unstable but because of the way Rover have treated
> me.

So what...I came from an alcoholic family growing up....watched my sister
and my mother attempt suicide (my grandfather actually went through with
it...hung himself)...seen my mother go through detox (can't count the number
of times coming home and finding her passed out on the kitchen floor and
needing to be carried to bed). I'll tell ya something Bob..it ain't easy
seeing your mother being pulled out of her bedroom on a stretcher by an
ambulance driver after downing a bottle of sleeping pills and a bottle of
vodka. But ya know what Bob....I don't post about my problems in an open
forum for all to read and give me sympathy. All anyone here knows is that I
don't drink...they have no fuckin' clue as to why or what I went though to
get where I am today. Life sucks sometimes....pick yourself up and go
forward!!!!!

Rover didn't put you in the position of deprevity....your decision to seek
retribution (even if you're legally entitled to it) instead of taking the
hit on the chin and find another job...that is what has caused you to be
*unstable*.

> As you know I returned to work today only to find out that there have been
a
> number of jobs on offer for the past two years that I could have done.

But they didn't want you....what does that tell you. It tells me that
fighting the system is not worth being somewhere where I'm not wanted.

> To have a disability is bad - to be discriminated against because of it is
> scandalous!!!!

Discrimination in any sense of the word is a bad thing in my books. But
when you weigh the pros and cons of the situation....is it really worth
losing 2 years salary...having your wife and yourself close to going over
the edge....not being able to provide for your family...and losing your self
respect??

Bob...this post has been coming for a LONG time in my books. Everyone else
may be passing on their wishes of good luck and sympathy for you....but I'm
not going to sit back any longer while you milk this newsgroup for their
pity.

It my post offends anyone..or makes them think any differently of me...so be
it. I simply feel that if one is able to work...they should work. Sitting
back for 2 years and hiding behind a legal entitlement to do so while their
family suffers...then goes after sympathy votes in a public newsgroup as a
result of which....well it really pisses me off!!!!!

No I have not - I have been ready and able to work for the past two years -
Rover have denied me this right.
Before you start saying look elsewhere for employment - which I can
understand - Rover set up the LTAR for people with Long term illnesses. The
Company states that once a member is fit enough to return to work then they
will try and find him a suitable job.

They have clearly NOT allowed me to fill any of the vacancies that arose. We
argue that this is Disability Discrimination.

Everyone is entitled to their point of view. For the past two years I have
been faced with positive discrimination from my employer and yes this has
made me kinda bitter. Shit I love it when people disagree with me because
this is a subject that I am very passionate about.

Rover have a policy of 'A JOB FOR LIFE'. If an employee falls ill, is
injured or is clinically depressed they state that they will do everything
in their power to get the employee back to work. NOT IN MY CASE!!!! Hence my
claim for discrimination.

But they are legally wrong Dave - Why should I let them get away with it. I
have since learned that there at least 20 others in the same boat as me. My
mission in life is to get these people back at work and I am meeting with
the Union on Monday to tell them of my plans.

Milk the Newsgroup? My original post was purely an update of my situation.
If you look at the thread you will see messages of 'Congratulations, etc.
Hey that's nice. You will also see messages of 'piss taking', mainly from
the Cannucks - I can live with that. Dave, to suggest that I am 'Milking The
Newsgroup' is way off line. Just because you don't agree with the messages
of support or think that it is me who is in the wrong does not mean that I
am seeking sympathy.

Your lack of compassion comes across strongly. I seem to remember Fran had
her stereo stolen from her car and there was plenty of sympathy. Did you
write her and tell her to get on with her life?

You come across as a nice, peaceful type of guy Dave but for one reason or
another I seemed to have rubbed you up the wrong way.

Like I said earlier Dave I think this is a personal thing between you and I.
Maybe you've never forgiven me for when I first came in here acting like a
buffoon, maybe you're still pissed at me for writing the 'Ejaculation Story?
Who knows?

Or maybe you're just Xenophobic?

As I put in the header this is my final word on the matter unless I feel the
need to respond.

Dave didn't "rain on your parade," nor did anbody else. All he did was
bring up some perfectly valid points. If you weren't so hellbent on the
avoidance of accountability for ANYTHING, it wouldn't be such a big deal.
You're one of those people who think that everything bad that's ever
happened to you was 100% someone else's fault, and that attitude irks me and
a lot of other people. Rover didn't make you slam a handful of pills, Bob.
YOU DID THAT.

years -

Exactly. You have been *voluntarily* not working.

> Rover have denied me this right.

Because you refuse to work for anyone else. You could have severed all ties
when they started dicking you around and gone to work someplace where you
were appreciated. But YOU made the decision not to.

It would be better than you saying "You don't know all the facts" every time
somebody says something you don't like. Because that's what you've been
doing.

The laws, at least in the US, are very different.
You wouldn't have even had the choice between deciding to find another job, as
opposed to doing what you have done, as a company here would not have to hold a
position for you, or offer you a position when you got well, as you were out of
work for a long period of time.
I handle personal injury auto claims and legally, at least in New York, I have
been told an employer is only required to hold your job for 12 weeks. They may
hold it longer than that, for example, the company I work for will hold the job
for 6 months and after that, you are terminated and no longer on their payroll.
If you were to be able to work again, you would be applying to be re-hired. If
you were injured at work, an employer would probably be more willing to work
with you, to get you off of worker's comp disability as, after all, they are
paying that insurance cost.
If you had been here, you would have had sick time. If you had purchased
long-term disability insurance you would have been paid whatever that policy
provided. When you were able to return to work, you would have had to look for
work, although it is possible you might have qualified for unemployment (26
weeks) when you were no longer disabled. The whole framework of still being on
the payroll on long term leave for years and the company having to find a job
for you to do when you are able to return to work, just doesn't exist here.
I have sympathy for you as I have tendonitis in both wrists, and inflammation
around the carpal tunnel area in the right hand. Given that I'm not actually
disabled (as least not that I can prove - ie typing as tolerated) I don't have a
lot of protection under the law and I'm trying to get through graduate school to
do something else before I develop a serious problem.
I just read your posts and I try not to be too judgmental as the legal game
seems very different over there.

He didn't? Sorry to keep repeating myself Nate but my original post was to
let the NG members that Rover had finally offered me work!!!!

All he did was
> bring up some perfectly valid points.

Sorry Nate but claiming that I put my family through hell is NOT a valid
point. Dave has a problem with me for reasons only known to himself. Like
I've said maybe he is still pissed off about the 'ejaculation story'

If you weren't so hellbent on the

Contracdiction in Terms here I'm afraid Nate - Are you 100% sure about the
above statement?

I'm not trying to start off a flame war with you here - Christ I've been
through enough of them with you. All I am stating here is that Dave jumped
in on a thread that was supposed to be an update of my situation - nothing
more - nothing less.

Rover didn't make you slam a handful of pills, Bob.
> YOU DID THAT.

Agreed Nate - I was a victim of circumstance.

>
> > No I have not - I have been ready and able to work for the past two

> Exactly. You have been *voluntarily* not working.

No I have not - I HAVE BEEN READY AND WILLING TO WORK - ROVER WOULDN'T LET
ME.

I know this is particularly hard for you lot (US/CAN) to understand as the
Laws are different there.

Put it this way Nate - let's just say that I took your advice when I was
first refused to work back at Rover.

So I resign - seek employment elsewhere. So now I have to try and get a wage
that is roughly the same, around £335 per week.

If you were an employer - would you take me on knowing I had restrictions?

Do you see what I am trying to get at here?

Yes I know and it seems as though you still can't comprehand what I am
saying. Again Nate I'm not being patronising here it's just that our Laws
are so different.

Yeh, because I thought that our laws were pretty much the same. If you
notice Nate the support I have recieved has been from the Eurobods - I don't
think this is coincidental.

Agree with ya 110% Dave & Tops
No offense to you Bob, you seem like a good guy and all, but their
points are right, and maybe you shouldn't take them hard, but use them
as constructive criticism and advice, incase something like this would
happen again.

If you find Dave's (or anyone else's) comments so disconcerting, you should
ignore them. Once again, just as you have every right to inform people of
your situation, others have an equal right to critique your handling of it.

> Sorry Nate but claiming that I put my family through hell is NOT a valid

1. You were able to work.

2. You didn't.

3. Your family went through hell because of it.

4. It's a valid point.

>Dave has a problem with me for reasons only known to himself.

Once again, NOBODY HAS A PROBLEM WITH YOU. People simply feel that you
could have handled things in a better way. Would you rather be offered
advice, or ignored completely?

>Like
> I've said maybe he is still pissed off about the 'ejaculation story'

Fucking stop it, Bob. You're embarrasing yourself for no good reason.

> Contracdiction in Terms here I'm afraid Nate - Are you 100% sure about the
> above statement?

Yes, as I've never heard you accept any responsibility for any of this. You
would have us believe that Rover suddenly got a hair up their ass one day
and decided to make your life a living hell for no reason. I, for one,
don't believe that for a second.

> I'm not trying to start off a flame war with you here - Christ I've been
> through enough of them with you.

And I haven't said anything remotely inflammatory. Unfortunately, you can
no longer make that claim.

>All I am stating here is that Dave jumped
> in on a thread that was supposed to be an update of my situation - nothing
> more - nothing less.

If it's in the NG, it's fair game. Nothing more, nothing less.

> Agreed Nate - I was a victim of circumstance.

There's that "victim" word again. You're not a victim, Bob. You made the
choice to place your destiny in the hands of others, putting all your eggs
in one basket while not formulating any sort of contingency plan. You are
not without fault in this matter.

> No I have not - I HAVE BEEN READY AND WILLING TO WORK - ROVER WOULDN'T LET
> ME.

Then fucking work somewhere else, for Christ's sake. I'm getting sick of
this "Rover wouldn't let me" shit.

> I know this is particularly hard for you lot (US/CAN) to understand as the
> Laws are different there.

Blame it on cultural differences, blame it on legal differences, blame it on
Rover, blame it on the government....blame it on everything and everyone
except YOURSELF. This is exactly what I'm talking about.

> So I resign - seek employment elsewhere. So now I have to try and get a
wage
> that is roughly the same, around £335 per week.

Isn't any wage better than no wage?

> If you were an employer - would you take me on knowing I had restrictions?

If you were a competent person able to perform the job I was offering, yes.

> Do you see what I am trying to get at here?

No.

> Yes I know and it seems as though you still can't comprehand what I am
> saying. Again Nate I'm not being patronising here it's just that our Laws
> are so different.

You might not be patronizing, but you're sure as hell being diversionary.
The "our laws are so different" thing is sounding like more and more of a
cop-out.

> Yeh, because I thought that our laws were pretty much the same. If you
> notice Nate the support I have recieved has been from the Eurobods - I
don't
> think this is coincidental.

I frankly don't care from whom or from whence your support is coming. That
does nothing to alter my personal assessment of the situation.

> So it's my fault I get OA of the hips?

Yes. Nobody forced you to choose a line of work which would be physically
destructive in the long run. Is it the fault of every drywall company I've
ever worked for that I blew out my shoulder? Fuck no! I chose, of my own
valition, to enter this trade. And I alone am culpable for any physical
damage it has caused or will cause me. By your logic, I should be suing all
my former employers, contractors for whom I've done jobs, homeowners on
whose houses I've worked, and everbody else under the fucking sun. Hell, if
I wanted to handle my situation differently, I could probably sit on my ass
for the rest of my life collecting welfare checks, disability checks,
unemployment checks, and workman's compensation checks. But I'm out there
every day gritting my teeth through the pain and working my scrawny little
ass off. Why? Because it's the honorable thing to do. And if it got so
bad that I couldn't do drywall anymore, I'd change my name to Pedro and go
work in the avocado groves one-handed before I'd suck one drop of milk from
the government tit. Be a man.

>It's my fault I am employed by a
> Company who promise to give you a job for life but then change their
minds?

Yes. Nobody forced you to work there.

> It wouldn't matter Nate - If you are ever in a position to seek justice
then
> it really does not matter how long it takes you.

And the consequences to my wife and children don't matter either, right? So
I can sit around for years at a time pursuing my own personal version of
"justice," everything and everyone else be damned. No thanks.

The advice I have been offered has come from a Professional Employment Law
Adviser. I tend to go with advice from someone who knows what they are
talking about and NOT from someone who needs a spliff to help get them
through the day!

Ah what's the matter Dave, you feeling a bit narked that I could possibly be
right? After all I have taken the advice of an Employment Law Adviser and a

fields! For the umpteenth (sp) time If I would have took a job elsewhere
Rover would have got away with Disability Discrimination. I can't make it

Far from it - your scathing, venomous attack on me has merely bought out a
few of the members in here to respond. Just because you don't like someone
having a go back at you doesn't mean it's my fault. I announced that I have
returned to work how is this Milking Jayse and the others?

Why did you feel the need to come into a thread that was merely expressing

Oh, give me a fucking break. I'm sure every single damn one of us has

That's it, I'm done with your ass. Welcome to my filter, Bob. I'm sorry it
had to come to this, but I can only listen to one man being a jackass for so
long. Look at all the energy you devote to eliciting empathy from strangers

Have a nice fucking life, Bob.

Bob...are you so god damned naive that you honestly believe your own
comments?? My *scathing and venomous* attack wuz not solely due to this
thread...it had been building for a few weeks. You post every fuckin' week
about your problems...whether it be with your employer....their offers to
make you go away.....your lack of earning power (even though there is
earning potential with other employment).....and then there's the problems
with your family (I almost commited suicide.....my wife is at wits

Because it wuz the straw that broke the camels back. I've had enough of
your public blathering. You make it sound that my initinal response (that
set this whole thing into motion for some strange reason) wuz only due to
your one thread about Rover taking you back...when if fact my *scathing and
venomous* attack wuz something that had been simmering for awhile. Don't
think for one minute that I *suddenly* became angry when I read this thread

you see where I'm coming from now???

Damn you're thick ain't ya!!!! Dude..if you remember correctly....I

suffering as a result of your stand with Rover. My *apostles* simply passed

took a stand similar to mine.

Dave, there is no need for you to explain. I basically stopped reading
the posts regarding his work/life problems long ago. The only reason
why I checked this thread out was the large number of responses. I was
honestly not surprised someone finally got tired of it all.
I have worked in an union for over 7 years and finally got out of it,
because of shit like Bob, or Fiddy, or poetboy, or whatever nickname
he gives himself, is doing. The lazy fucks I worked with looked for
more ways to make money without working than actually trying to make
themselves more valuable to the company. You wouldn't believe some of
the ailments that they would get and try to milk the company. I
finally got tired enough of it to get a non-union job, I make more
money now, and I don't have to listen to a shit load of whining.

In the NG, there are people here that will share certain things in
their lives, usually if it pertains to AC/DC. I have never seen Dave
talk about alcoholism that solicited a response from the NG. The
marital issues with Top only surfaced when Top was gone for a long
time and people were asking where he was. He didnt make posts like
TOPS MARRIAGE IS GOING DOWN THE SHITTER, EVERYONE PLEASE SUFFER WITH
ME.
I responded to Tops that I hope all goes well, and that was it. We
didnt hear anything about it until someone in the NG mentioned it
again, which was followed by an update from Top.
What Im getting at Bob, is that you have made your point, we have made
ours, we basically stated that we really are done hearing about it,
yet you keep going, and going, and going annnnnnnnnnnnd going.
Now you have burned bridges with people that seemed to like you and
did care how things went with you.

Now, Bob, please move on with your life.

I'm delurking for a moment here. I've been following this for a while
now. I think you've pointed out something important that people have
been ignoring. Bob was following legal advise. When you hire a lawyer,
or are appointed some kind of council, it is in your best interests to
listen to what they tell you to do. That is their field of expertise.
These people obviously felt that Bob was better off doing what he did.
Good on Bob. A lot of people don't listen to their legal advisors. I'm
sure Bob thought of moving on during his two years, but he was *advised*
not to by people who know.

Another thing. Rightly or wrongly, people in England have voted for a
'nanny state'. That is how it is over there legally and politically. I
don't necessarily agree with it but that's how it is. From that
standpoint, Bob is indeed entitled to what he is going after.

My advise Bob, for what it's worth: don't bother discussing it on this
forum anymore. Also, don't take a lot of it personally. Good luck, hope
the new position works out. Oh yeah...AC/DC rocks (now we're on topic)!

> and I`m suspended for the first 3 days of next year,

Back in grade 11....there wuz an assembly at school....so me and a buddy
(Douggie) ducked out to go to his place and raid his parents liquer
cabinent. We took every bottle we could find and poured it into one big
coke bottle (jungle juice...packs a hell of a kick)...and got totally looped
in the hydro fields behind the school. Well....that afternoon....we go back
to school to check out the smoking area (bad move). Next thing ya
know...Douggie's getting a 3 day suspension for stealing the fire
extinguisher and running around spraying all the preppies. When I found out
about his suspension soon after that...I went ballistic...marched into the
principals office....slammed open her door....and proceeded to laugh
hysterically at her two different coloured eyes (again...a bad move). Next
thing you know....my guidance counciler is driving me home with a letter
outlining my 5 day suspension.

Now....I don't condone school suspensions in any shape or from....but for
that one week (in the end of May...beauty weather)....I had my tent pitched
outside in my back yard....an extension cord running out the back door...so
I had my tunes and my popcorn machine goin' full blast while my friends
would drop by and lay out row after row of bottle tokes. Best week off I
ever had.

First day back at school after the suspension I have a short meeting with
the principal who warns me to stay out of trouble and keep my nose clean. 3
hours later I'm in the hydro fields behind the school....with a few
buds....roastin' a HUGE rocket. All of a sudden 2 undercovers walking a dog
take a quick detour over to us....and bust our asses by bringing us each
into the principals office and leaving her to deal with us.
Well....everyone of us denied everything....but the principal took one look
at me then sent my ass back home for another 3 days (back to my tent I
went...with about a quarter ounce in my pocket to keep myself occupied as I
camped out watching tv in my back yard until 3am the next few nights).

3 days is nothing dude...especially for the first few days of the school
year. Hell I set a school record for the least amount of time in class
between suspensions (3 hours). Do the time....and think back on it with
fond memories as you get older and more mature...you will eventually see the
freedom you once had in life.

Nah, it's completely different, Jim. Besides, I *did* ask.

Let's not allow Bob's mood swings to dictate what we discuss anyway.

Hell, I say it's on-topic anyway, since we all met you and Ryan at the
BOD-fest, which happened to include an AC/DC show (Take that, Bob!)

So tell us what the hell happened!

You and everyone else knows that I'm a reformed alcoholic because I JOKE
ABOUT IT!!!!! For fucks sake Bob...it wuz over 12 years ago....I'm OVER it.
I make a smartassed remark every now and then about how I fell over in a
druken stupor at a bonfire while urinating....but at least I can joke about
it. I use it the humour as part of my act here at
alt.rock-n-roll.acdc......it helps put a spin on things ya know. Once in
awhile someone will chime in about drinking and driving...at which point I
put on my serious cap for a moment and get up on my soapbox....cuz drinking
and driving is a definate no no in my books....but for the most part I use
my problem with booze as a tool of humour...certainly not as a crutch...and
without sympathy warrented.

Fear of foreigners?? Is that what you think Bob?? That I have a fear of
foreigners??? Dude...I have a fear of mean people...plain and fuckin'
simple....and ya know why...cuz mean people SUCK!!!! There's just as many
mean Canadians as there are Brits. Saying that I have a fear of foreigners
is just plain silly Bob...and I ask that you come up with a better retort

You have kept this thread alive with this posting.

I have nothing left to say on the matter Dave but if you and your mindless
sheep wish to continue belittleing me then fine. It was good therapy for a
while but I realise that this is an anti-brit thing and seeing as the
majority of this group is US/CAN then it's pointless for me to respond as I
will only get accused of milking the newsgroup.

Each and everyone of you has told me to drop it (the thread) but each and

Me and his brother are trying to get him out by tonight, the latest

Allright - for what it's worth............

1. Saying Bob should've handled it differently is pointless because we
benefit from hindsight. It's all very easy to sit here after the event and
accuse Bob of being wrong. Perhaps Bob himself would've handled it
differently knowing now what he didn't know then?

2. It costs nothing to wish one well.

3. If everyone had done such, this thread would've been over in two days.
Instead, Bob has spent a week trying to defend himself, just as anyone else
in here would've done.

The next time anyone has their car stereo stolen or their AC/DC albums
pinched or breaks their leg or strains their sphincter, I will say it was
all their own fault and accuse them of milking the newsgroup. Doing so
will, of course, achieve nothing.

'Stop milking the newsgroup?'

The fact that our respective employment laws differ means that they (Dave
