So far it has turned up two likely
suspects using different aliases,
and one more obvious manifestation.
I think I'll stay in the background
and inform people about this degenerate
via anonymous emails. Be more effective
that way.

forum was a serious mistake, charlatan.
I am going to see that you never get
where you want to go. And it will take
me about an hour a week. A nice little
non-intrusive hobby.

think very hard about Alan Connor the personality / career,
failed spammer and very likely case of Asperger's Syndrome.

Has not Sid proposed a plan *exactly* in line with the sort of

There is enough information on "Alan Connor" shared and discussed by
other people he has trolled. I also am convinced he has A.S.

Well, here is the thing. Look at Sidney's social conduct
with a view to autistic spectrum symptoms (possibly not
as high-functioning as Asperger's). How did he reply to
"Hey, Sid, come and be our chum"? He wouldn't read
any messages or replies related to it, responded with
excretory obscenities, and insisted he wouldn't ever
ever ever *look* at anything written by the writer....
does that remind you of any behavioral pattern?
You might want to consider that possibility awhile.
If we're dealing with an autistic Internet user, then
the fact that he's irritating as hell may have one
mitigating factor to consider....

And certainly getting a court order to remove his computer access
would be advisable, yes, unless he can be very strictly monitored, and
I do mean word-for-word by an alert and responsible editor during
limited times of the day. The latter would allow him at least the
freedom to communicate his ideas, without conducting harassment
campaigns. But it would be labor-intensive. If they can't afford to
devote the staff time to him, I fear he'd be cut off entirely, even
from less trollish pursuits. As one who favors rehabilitation, I'd be
sorry to see that outcome. Autism shouldn't be encouraged to become
catatonia. If offline pursuits could meet his needs, well,... why
haven't they?

In fact, what struck me was the strong *similarity*
of the two structures over the centuries, first the
invocation of the symbolism, then the demand of
the desired results. The Latin used couplets, the
English a relaxed quatrain (rhyming the 2nd & 4th).
"Teflon" is actually a slight update of an earlier
generation's "rubber", and I suppose has echoes
of the "Teflon Presidency" of the 1980s. The two
analogies (as stuff bounces off teflon, so this..;
as stuff sticks to glue, so this...) hark back to many
other analogical spells: as this object burns or
melts, so may X burn or melt; as the sun rises
or sets, so may X's fortunes rise or set; as the
moon waxes or wanes, so may our crops wax,
or so may this disease wane. What you see
here is indeed a very traditionally styled, very
compact, very vividly expressed and evocative
spell. That it uses modern terms does not in
any way detract from these other qualities.
Quite to the contrary. It fits its current users.
