Is it a good Lammas when you:
manage to forget the day is a major holiday;
yet seek the sunrise amid the morning clouds (no luck, and too far south
for the eclipse anyway);
prepare a grain-based dinner (palenta, from cornmeal of course);
do a bit of mowing - traditionally, with the reel mower; I've gone back
to hand power on my lawn about 60% of the time;
and watch the hidden setting sun set a cloud ablaze with pale, yellow fire.
A belated Blessed Day of the First Wheat Harvest, everyone!

"Progress which pursues only the next invention, progress which pulls
thought out of the mind and replaces it with idle slogans, is not
progress at all. It is a beckoning mirage in a desert over which stagger
the generations of men." -- Loren Eisley, _The Firmament of Time_
