Just as by executing various pious activities one achieves different
positions in heavenly life, by acting impiously one achieves
different positions in hellish life.

Those who are activated by the material mode of ignorance engage in
impious activities, and according to the extent of their ignorance,
they are placed in different grades of hellish life.

If one acts in the mode of ignorance because of madness, his
resulting misery is the least severe.

One who acts impiously but knows the distinction between pious and
impious activities is placed in a hell of intermediate severity.

And for one who acts impiously and ignorantly because of atheism, the
resultant hellish life is the worst.

Because of ignorance, every living entity has been carried by various
desires into thousands of different hellish planets since time
immemorial. I shall try to describe them as far as possible.

What position does one achieve by making ISKCON members look like
uneducated fools, Jesper? Wake up and smell the reality: your
combination of invincible ignorance and unwarranted arrogance is the
worst advertisement for Krishna imaginable.

Who do you think you are fooling? Your boundless prejudice will make
you think ISKCON is a brain-dead cult no matter what. Just see how
atheism has wasted your brain away.

The funny thing is that Hare Krishna is the only religion on the
planet that can tell you who God is, what He looks like, what His name

*ZING* went the point over your head as usual, Jesper. Whether or not
ISKCON is a brain-dead cult is neither here nor there, the point is

Who is threatening? The Vedas are just explaining to you the result of
your different activities. If you think you will not have to suffer
for the wanton slaughter of other living entities by the culture you
are a mindless product of, you are in for a grim surprise. That's not
a threat, that's a promise.

Krishna says:

Bewildered by false ego, strength, pride, lust and anger, the demons
become envious of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is situated
in their own bodies and in the bodies of others, and blaspheme against
the real religion. (Bg. 16.18)

Those who are envious and mischievous, who are the lowest among men, I
perpetually cast into the ocean of material existence, into various
demoniac species of life. (Bg. 16. 19)

Attaining repeated birth amongst the species of demoniac life, O son
of Kunti, such persons can never approach Me. Gradually they sink down
to the most abominable type of existence. (Bg. 16.20)

There are three gates leading to this helllust, anger and greed.
Every sane man should give these up, for they lead to the degradation
of the soul. (Bg. 16.21)

The man who has escaped these three gates of hell, O son of Kunt,
performs acts conducive to self-realization and thus gradually attains
the supreme destination. (Bg. 16.22)

He who discards scriptural injunctions and acts according to his own
whims attains neither perfection, nor happiness, nor the supreme
destination. (Bg. 16.23)

One should therefore understand what is duty and what is not duty by
the regulations of the scriptures. Knowing such rules and regulations,
one should act so that he may gradually be elevated. (Bg. 16.24)

ROTFLMAO! Jesper, with the possible exception of self-delusion, you
not only aren't "superior" to anyone at anything, you're not even
minimally competent at anything. Wake up and smell the reality, loser.

Typical cult indoctrination technique, used by everyone from the
Moonies to the Branch Davidians to ISKCON: "anyone who isn't one of us
is the enemy". Whom are you trying to impress with that, Jesper? Or do
you seriously not recognize that telling the truth about how your cult
operates is the worst thing you could do to advertise for them?

Here is the irrefutable argument that Atheism is anti-intellectual and
makes you stupid.

Atheism is the belief that there are no gods. In other words, it is a
belief that cannot be verified. It is impossible to prove there is no
God. By definition, you cannot prove a negative. So atheism is a
totally blind belief, that cannot be verified. Who, but a less
intelligent idiot, would believe in something blindly?

On the other hand, a theist, at least theoretically, has the
possibility to have his faith in God verified. God, if He exists, can
certainly prove His own existence beyond doubt. So theists are
intellectually better situated than atheists because they believe in
something that has the possibility of verification.

Thus theists are fundamentally more intelligent than atheists.

Now, some atheist might ask, if God can verify Himself, why doesn't He
do so to me? And here is the answer that God gives in the Bhagavad
Gita:

Krishna says:

I am never manifest to the foolish and unintelligent. For them I am
covered by My internal potency, and therefore they do not know that I
am unborn and infallible. (Bg. 7.25)

Somebody might think, but this is hard-hearted of God. But when you
think about it, it is actually not. It is rather very benevolent of
God. Atheism is actually not a matter of evidence of this and proof of
that. That is a total BS idea. For someone who has the eyes to see,
this whole world is proof of an intelligent, Supreme Designer.
Obviously, nobody is an atheist out of a lack of proof of God.

To be an atheist or a theist is simply a matter of choice. Atheism is
a choice you make when you don't want God in your life. It's as simple
as that. Most religions have no real good explanation for why somebody
would not want God in his life, but the Vedic version predicts this.
God is the Supreme Enjoyer, and the soul is meant for His enjoyment.
But if the soul wants to imitate God and become an independent
enjoyer, Krishna then gives the material world as their field of
activity.

So all of us, whether we call ourselves Xtians, atheists, Buddhists,
Hare Krishnas or whatever, are all fallen souls, who have fallen down
into the material world to become enjoyers and controllers. If we
actually knew the truth - that Krishna is the only enjoyer and
controller - we wouldn't be able to live out the illusion of being
independent enjoyers and controllers. So Krishna mercifully keeps the
fallen souls in ignorance. It is out of respect for the deluded soul's
wishes, that Krishna stays away from Him. When an atheist has a very
strong conviction that there is no God, it is Krishna Who sits in his
heart and makes that conviction strong.

Krishna says:

I am seated in everyone's heart, and from Me come remembrance,
knowledge and forgetfulness. By all the Vedas, I am to be known.
Indeed, I am the compiler of Vednta, and I am the knower of the
Vedas. (Bg. 15.15)

So the only way a fallen soul will ever again see God, is by asking
Him for it. As long as the basic desire is there, to not have anything
to do with God, Krishna will stay far away from such a soul, and He
will offer oceans of good reasons to not believe in Him. So when
atheists ask for evidence and proof of God, it is all lies. There is
nothing that a die-hard atheist wants less than proof of God. Proof of
God is the last thing he wants.

So anyone who wants to know God beyond doubt will certainly do
whatever is necessary to accomplish that. And the fist thing one must
do to see God is give up one's atheistic mentality and develop a
genuine desire to see God. If you wish to see God, you'll follow the
method of how to see Him. That's obvious.

Krishna says:

Now hear, O son of Pritha, how by practicing yoga in full
consciousness of Me, with mind attached to Me, you can know Me in
full, free from doubt. (Bg. 7.1)

See? You're not superior to anyone. You don't even know what an atheist
is, so you insert a strawman to do the arguing for you. Pussy.

So you say, Jesper. As usual, it will prove to be quite the opposite,
and wind up exposing your own ignorance.Let's proceed...

>Atheism is the belief that there are no gods.

No, it's the response "I don't believe you" to theist claims of gods.
It's also the default logical position until someone demonstrates that
any gods exist.

>In other words, it is a
>belief that cannot be verified. It is impossible to prove there is no
>God. By definition, you cannot prove a negative.

<facepalm>

That's why the burden of proof rests entirely on the theist, Jesper.
As always, you have no idea what you're talking about.

> So atheism is a
>totally blind belief, that cannot be verified.

No, it's a rejection of theism, because it has not been verified.

>Who, but a less
>intelligent idiot, would believe in something blindly?

You, for one.

>On the other hand, a theist, at least theoretically, has the
>possibility to have his faith in God verified.

It's also theoretically possible to have faith in dragons, unicorns,
nose goblins, and the monster under your bed verified, but it takes a
special kind of imbecile to believe in them in the absence of such
verification.

> God, if He exists, can
>certainly prove His own existence beyond doubt.

Yet he doesn't. If he did there would be no atheists, Jesper.

>So theists are
>intellectually better situated than atheists because they believe in
>something that has the possibility of verification.

<facepalm>

So believing in a claim for which there is no evidence is
intellectually preferable to rejecting it? You must be the most
gullible person ever born, Jesper.

You must understand that there is no plausable way that your art can
augment the veracity of your theological aguments. Why do you always
reference your art in your theological postings?

Surely is could not be vanity? My website (which I always put as a singular
URL in my signature) has poetry, programming, puns, dreams, a photo
gallery, nonfiction, and even an original science fiction story.

But you don't see me yapping about it every time I post to usenet. I
understand that continually bringing attention to those parts of my web-
site would be vain. So I temper my exhuberance by putting just one (1) URL
after a single line of "--", in order to comply with acceptables norms for
usenet postings. (i.e. users may program their readers to suppress material
after the "--". This functionality is described in general documentation
regarding usenet posting etiquette.)

Vanity is a half-step from exhibitionism. And I'll bet that wearing a
simple robe makes it easy to "accidentally" air out your mizzenmast.

Where will it end, Janhu? Will you be changing your ISP to the local prison
system, or will you stop telling us about your art?

Jesper steal art and manipulates it as his own. He's scrap booking
images using photoshop cut and paste. Hardly original art.

You should get ideas from art and then make your own. If you use
other people's work you should give them credit.

Because I have thought about what the word means.
Piety is an outward demonstration of your devotion to some deity or
faith - its a signal to your fellow beings that says "I am one of
you!" - so for example politicians in the USA make very sure to talk
about God in their speeches.
If they don't they will not be elected - or at least none ever has
been.
Its also a tool to instill conformity - if everyone else is praying
and worshiping and dancing - you make the "unbeliever" stand out - so
its a method of control and intimidation.

Well, that's partially correct: a doorknob is more knowledgeable than
you, and has a better grasp of logic and reason. Seriously, Jesper,
don't delude yourself: if there's one thing that your posting history

The law is impartial and focused on justice. The mafia has different
priorities that are comparable to religion, and both types of
organizations have well-earned reputations for believing that they are
"above the law," hence it is they who would make far better candidates
for "whining about it."

Organized religion requires language, and language was obviously
invented by people.

Babies are born without a concept of deities, which are an integral
aspect of religion, and must first conceptualize something prior to
believing it. This conceptualization may be the product of their own
creativity, and/or someone else's, but to rely on your premise will
require validation of it -- you can begin by indicating that point in
history when the first human beings evolved.

Once again Jesper lies through his teeth, this time projecting his own
wishful thinking on those who simply accept reality.

Like most theists he needs to invent all sorts of "reasons" why people
don't take theism seriously.

>Organized religion requires language, and language was obviously
>invented by people.

Obviously you need language to form and communicate anything but the
simplest ideas (eg sharpening tools - this is communicated by showing
it to others).

They don't come up with gods on their own. Parents introduce them, and
explain them in terms of uber-parents.

But the worst part of this, is it's done so early that theists imagine
the belief is inherent and automatic

As far as we can observe, language has always been part of humanity.
The idea that language evolved from some abe-like grunting to
Shakepeare is simply so laughable that only less intelligent atheist
can get themselves to believe in it.

>Babies are born without a concept of deities, which are an integral

Babies are born without the concept of anything except hunger. People
grow up with the values and concepts they are being induced with by
their parents and the rest of society.

The Vedas describe an evolution of consiousness from anamayi - where
you are only conscious of eating; pranamayi - where you become
consious of your body: jnanamayi - where you become conscious of your
mind, and anandamayi - where you become consious of God. Modern man is
hardly evolved beyond the second step, where you are conscious of your
body.

There is no such point as far as we can observe, so your point is
moot. The idea of evolution is merely an idea you grew up with. When
you think about, it is a laughable idea with no foundation in
observable reality. The only reason people in general believe in such
nonsense is that it is being shoved down everyone's throat by TV
(Animal Planet) and all educational institutions.

"Scientists who go about teaching that evolution is a fact of life are

Since it's obvious that you were already aware of Quoth The Raven's
intended word usage as confirmed by the fact that you reacted with a
point of information rather than surprise in this circumstance, it's
also obvious that your point of information is actually a straw woman
argument designed to support a "moving the goalposts" fallacy.

In a country where freedom from religion is constitutionally protected,
it's ironic that this happens. It's as if religion has a stronger
influence on politics despite best intentions directed toward the
separation of church and state.

Where is this "law of karma" officially documented? Who are the police
who enforce it? Who are the judges appointed to rendering verdicts
within its confines? Can the general public attend the courts that
render verdicts to observe that the process is, indeed, impartial?

That's a non-sequitur because that characteristic is a by-product of
the active political environment. For the most-part, the laws (at
least in countries like Canada) actually are based on justice.

Paramatma or the Supersoul - the aspect of God in the hearts of all
living entities.

Yet in this body there is another, a transcendental enjoyer, who is
the Lord, the supreme proprietor, who exists as the overseer and
permitter, and who is known as the Supersoul. (Bg 13.23)

Yes, it's called the court of life.

Theoretically, ideally, of course, it is. But practical life tells a
different story. You can escape the state-law, you can commit a crime
and never be brought to justice, but you cannot escape the law of
karma which dictates your destiny.

Krishna says:

Work done as a sacrifice for Visnu has to be performed; otherwise work
causes bondage in this material world. Therefore, O son of Kunti,
perform your prescribed duties for His satisfaction, and in that way
you will always remain free from bondage. (Bg 3.9)

There are, of course, different versions and conceptions of the
Supreme Person.

<blither-blather>

When you speak to people in general about God and religion, one
question that keeps coming up is - all religions are the same
nonsense, how do you know the God of your religion is better than any
other religion's God?

But it's a simple question to answer. First you read the Bible. Then
you read the Koran, and then you read Bhagavad Gita. These 3 books are
like the revealed scriptures of the world-religions, so they should
give you a pretty good answer.

When you have finished reading, you ponder the situation and ask
yourself - which of these books touch me the most profoundly, which of
them is closest to what you'd expect to hear from a God?

Can there be any doubt as to the answer?

"I owed a magnificent day to the Bhagavad Geeta. It was the first of
books; it was as if an empire spoke to us, nothing small or unworthy,
but large, serene, consistent, the voice of an old intelligence which
in another age and climate had pondered and thus disposed of the same
questions which exercise us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Krishna says:

My dear Arjuna, because you are never envious of Me, I shall impart to
you this most confidential knowledge and realization, knowing which
you shall be relieved of the miseries of material existence. (Bg. 9.1)

This knowledge is the king of education, the most secret of all
secrets. It is the purest knowledge, and because it gives direct
perception of the self by realization, it is the perfection of
religion. It is everlasting, and it is joyfully performed. (Bg. 9.2)

It's not surprising when you think about it. Separate
church and state, and voters want to see their politicians
explicitly and expressly religious so that their faith may
be heard in the corridors of power. In countries with a
state church, this is simply not seen as necessary.

The other consideration, of course, is that unlike North
America, in Europe and Asia we still have the reminders of
sectarian warfare all around us. Voters know what may
happen when religion gets to work the levers of power.

Yes jahnu, blither-blather appears to be the thread that unites all
religions, simply posit the existence of an invisible sky pixie, back up
that contention with lots and lots of blither-blather, and voila, you've got
yourself a religion. Next step is to watch them kill each other for not
agreeing on whose magic pixie is more magical.
