I was told an interesting story a few days ago. A man I know who is
quite an outdoor person told me he used to hunt and fish with a one
certain guy and they became good friends.

When hunting, the guy would say he was bored and was going to find a
deer to touch.

Of course the man I know didn't believe him until one day he was
walking on a ridge and watching the guy below him. The guy was stalking
something, and he looked hard and saw he was about twenty feet from a
deer lying in the bushes. He watched the man sneak up on the deer and
slap it on the rump. Of course the deer ran off.

He told the guy what he had seen. A few weeks later the man gave him a
fetish, and told him as long as he carried it when he hunted he would
be successful.

He said he did carry it and was very successful for about six years.
Hunting and fishing both were almost too easy. One evening he had a
heated discussion with his spouse and somehow the fetish was thrown and
broken.

He said his hunting and fishing success went back to normal, and
eventually he quit carrying the broken pieces of fetish.

Interesting story I thought I would share

This reminds me of my Dad's approach to hunting. The strangest sounding
story he tells is herding deer to maneuver them past county health
inspectors. He says he did it for fun to see if he could manage it.
Deer are a lot more skittish during deer season so he wouldn't have been
able to do that except out of season.

A spiritual approach to hunting is standard in my family. I simply do
not get folks who have beer while hunting or who don't eat what they
kill. Aliens to me. Dad would sit on a stump and have me listen to the
sounds of the animals and have me tell him what type of critters were
where. As many as I would point out to him he'd point out more to me.
I don't know how it ended up a spiritual lesson as I described it, but
it did end up that way.

Fire in the hole.

I was told once by Flora and the old man that if you put a little
cayenne pepper in the bushes it helps with those deer.

Personally? I like to take along a little extra plastic wrap and stuff
it in the bait. They have a better chance of choking than I do of
taking out the bull with one clean shot to the melon.

Just at thought.
