Here are my thoughts on the whole anon thing and the OG and cultish
behaviour.

I find the anons mostly refreshing - reading on enturbulation is
interesting - the ideas are passed around, chewed on,and discussed
openly and with vigour.

The anons examine information and look for more information to back up
what they have - and accept or reject it based on the collected ideas
and information of all those who choose to participate.

They are,for the most part, younger than I, and have been raised with
their hands already on the key board. They know how to use the net,and
other technology related stuff. They are not afraid to cry foul if
someone proposes and idea or presents a fact that is wrong. They are
used to the rough and tumble internet in ways that I never was and still
am not.

They are enthusiastic- sometimes too much so for this old foggy but I
appreciate their joy and their sense of fun.

They work together or alone and lead or follow as the case may be
without anyone being "in charge".

Their ability to learn and adapt quickly has impressed me - from their
first response with dos attacks and their listening to Mark Bunker and
adapting their response to what they saw as an attack on free speech.

That they are loud and sometimes obnoxious in their comments is part of
their culture - not cult - culture. (I still cringe when my boys greet
each other by attacking one another with fists and feet). I do not
understand it but it is their culture not mine.

Ars and the OG has been, for some time less than interesting to read-
with all the us and them fights, the flame wars, and of course the never
ending spam (kill files are wonderful tools). When I first came here I
learned a lot - and there was a lot of information exchanged - it was on
IRC that I got the help I needed when my husband was contacted by Al
Buttnor - and it was on ars that I found support as well. These days
between all the flame wars and the repeated nonsense it is hard to find
new information.

There are posters I always read and others I rarely read - based on the
thread.

Monica, I think you are wrong about Anons - I do not go to OCMB so I do
not know what the atmosphere is there - but groups tend to become
insular -and develop an us or them perspective on the world. It is not
always right and it can be hurtful but that is the nature of groups
generally.

ANonymous is so large and so sprawling in terms of age and interests
that this sort of group think is harder to develope - not to mention
that many of the younger anons I know all are very sceptical of anyone
who claims to have the answer - and seek the answers for themselves.
This in and of itself makes anonymous a powerful force since they are
self-correcting and do not brook lazy information gathering.

I do not see much cultish behaviour in the anons - and the costumes et
al for protests make protesting more fun and entertaining. I have been
unable to attend these protests due to health related issues and am
sorry I cannot attend.

That being said I would humbly suggest, that those who doubt go to
enturbulation.org and spend some time reading the various threads that
pertain to information and news and see how things are discussed and
deconstructed and how the efforts of many are being used to inform - not
just the public but officials and those who have authority as well.

It is not for me to decide what you think - that is for each of us to
decide for ourselves and be willing to learn and change as we grow.
No one is perfect and no one has all the answers.

This new group that has emerged- called anonymous is not perfect but it
is fascinating to watch these "kids" learn and grow and move forward
with their ideas - and to see them willing to learn more and welcome new
ideas - it is fascinating to watch.

Just my thoughts

I agree, Kim. I just love what these people are doing and see it
evolving into good and purposeful actions. I just wish the many
efforts shown at enturb.org could be posted here on ARS more often, as
there is so much going on that is good which does not make it to
usenet and it can take hours to navigate that site for all it has!

Enturb.org archives it's stuff quickly and the urls change resulting
in reduced access via google search. It would be nice for someone over
at enturb.org would post a daily update on the orher groups, to keep
readers of the net informed.

Anyway, kudos to all anons everywhere who are helping to expose
Scientology.
