The nonsense posts afflicting your newsgroups are coming from
alt.religion.scientology.

They are being generated by robot programs that mix up Headers such as
Subject: and From: and then apply the result to random posts from other
newsgroups or nonsense text. Alt.religion.scientology gets thousands of
these posts every week.

The purpose of this is to flood the alt.religion.scientology newsgroup
with spam. This discourages people from reading the newsgroup and causes
genuine posts to quickly expire.

Who is doing this? The Church of Scientology itself. The CoS *hates*
this newsgroup, which was the first gathering point for opponents of
their organisation. They do not want you to read bad things about their
organisation, true or not. They believe all their opponents are
criminals.

The spam is being cancelled as fast as it appears. The spammers are
being hunted down. A lot of ISPs are mightily pissed off with them. The
FBI are *very* interested.

How can you help?

(1) DONT reply to posts with alt.religion.scientology in the Header. You
are only adding to the spam.
(2) DONT reply to THIS message before removing all the newsgroups in the
header EXCEPT for your own. That way you won't be spamming other
newsgroups.
(3) DO tell everyone about how the Church of Scientology are abusing the
Internet.
(4) And, if you like, take a look at the many Web Sites telling the
truth about the 'Church' of Scientology, who claim to have converted
over 4 million Christians to their religion by telling them it is
compatible with Christianity - and not telling them they believe Jesus
Christ never existed.
