G'Day Y'All,

Back in the late 1980's I was on staff at the OC-ORG as their
FBO-Admin
under John Woodruff who was their ED at the time (this was before the
big fire
and the total rebuilding of the facility). When I had to go into the
hospital for
some medical problems I had to quit. But I did not really know much
about
SCN, even to this day I do not know much about it.

Being on staff allowed me to have an ARC-Intro course at CC-INT, 2
intensives
of Book One Auditing at OC-ORG, the Student Hat, Staff Status Zero, and
that was
about it.

I made many trips up to ASHO and CC-INT on OC-ORG business such as
delivering items to my Sea Org counterparts in LA at the FBO Admin
offices.

I have only owned one book that I bought, a copy of Dianetics
(Book One).
It was a "mass market paperback", and I sent in the business reply
postcards
that were mounted in the book and invited around Christmas time to a
lecture
at a hotel across from Disneyland, and invited to go the next day to
CC-INT.
Then eventually routed to OC-ORG and invited to go on staff (after a 12
hour
intensive by 3 Sea Org members to sign up for Sea Org.... remember, I
had
read Book One, I went to a lecture, I visited CC-INT and met Chick
Corea,
took the ARC-Intro course at CC-INT.... and that was my ENTIRE AND
TOTAL
EXPOSURE TO SCN up to that point. I took the OCA and the IQ test at
the
OC Org and they wanted me on staff, but their recruiter was not on site
at
that time, so that is how I was put in with the Sea Org... but I stood
my ground
and was not going to sign a Billion Year Contract when I did not have
any
real knowledge of SCN at the time). To this day I still do not have
any materials.

When I worked at OC-Org, they took me out to lunch. They gave me
some
training. I passed all of my "Security Checks" with a "floating
needle". But I
barely made enough money to put gasoline in the car to go from home to
the
Org each day. I had to go to the treasurer for "petty cash" to go up
to ASHO,
CC-INT, or any other org in Los Angeles that they wanted me to go to.

Long days and nothing to show for it. I have wanted to learn
more. But now
that I have all the time in the world (heck, I even completed my
education), they
do not seem to want me for staff or Sea Org. Because they see me as
"damaged
goods" since I am in a wheelchair. Still send me all of their fliers,
but will not
take me in (was even willing to go Sea Org). But I did not even get
any books,
cassettes, or other items because I could not afford them when I was on
staff
or even now since I have been on disability since February of 1989.

I will not pass judgement on SCN. I left on good terms. And I
must admit
I am still pretty ignorant about SCN since I was not really exposed to
much as
far as tech (never owned even a Class V E-Meter, let alone a Quantium
VII, or
the new Japanese VIII Ultra's I have heard rumors about... never owned
any
books other than that cheap paperback copy of "book one").

I want to learn. I want to read ALL of the materials that I can
get my hands
on and then make up my own mind. But I can not get any of the Org's
that I
have been involved with to even send me any of the Music CD's let alone
any
books, or other materials. No money no tech.

If any of you have any hardcover books (even Book One, since I
have not
seen my copy since I worked at OC-ORG about 20 years ago), an old
working
e-meter, SCN music CD's, SCN DVD's, or any other materials that you
would
be willing to part with my address is listed below.

Being disabled, stuck in a rural town that is about halfway
between Cleveland
and Columbus (yes, my friends, I am now living in Ohio), I am about 76
miles
away from either of them. I have all the time in the world, and I love
to read. I
will read anything, listen to anything, watch anything.... just
something to fill
my boring and lonely days with. But after many email and postal mail
Comms
with SCN, and the orgs not wanting me... I want to learn all I can
about them.
If I learn something positive, it is a reward. But it would fill my
time.

If SCN does not want me just because I am in a wheelchair or use
crutches
and leg braces to get around... it does not mean that I do not want to
learn about
them. Their websites tell little. The anti-SCN websites tell horror
stories. But
I want to take the time (heck, I have plenty of it), and read all I can
and make up
my own mind. I would love to read the entire OEC, The Management
Series,
and any other books. See if there is anything I can learn in LRH Tech
that I have
not already learned through experience and college education. To
listen to some
of the music and watch some of the DVD's. To learn all I can. I have
even been
interested in the Volunteer Minister's Handbook (or Scientology
Handbook, whatever
it is called now). I am always wanting to learn.

Being disabled and on disability with full medical coverage
through Medicare
and Medicaid, I am a "cheap date" for SCN. All they would have to
provide is
transportation, housing, food, and clothing, as well as materials and
perhaps
a burgundy E-Meter (my favorite color, but even the orange "OC Org"
meter
would bring back some good memories).

I guess I was not in long enough to see anything negative other
than a very
small paycheck. I had many people that were at least friendly if not
friends. A
"Public" that was taking services there, Shawn, who came all the way
out from
the Riverside County Border (who had cerebral palsy but at the time
could still
walk when I bumped into him at the OC Org, even though his speech was
more
slurred, and he was a bit stiffer in gait than before he hit puberty,
when I knew
him at Bernardo Yorba Junior High... I can not even remember his las
name
anymore, since that was so long ago... this year was my 20 year High
School
reunion... so it has been a long time).

There were funny times (a member of the OC Org took me out to
lunch, and
since we only had a short time, he and another member had the chutzpah
to
go into the kitchen of the restaurant and was seeing what the delay of
serving
our meal was). Never had a bad experience with the "cans in my hands".
I
think that if they would have taken me back with my disability, I would
still be
at the OC-Org to this day. Or even Sea Org, if they wanted me. It was
a short
time but one of good memories.

I started after LRH had died. So I never met the man. I did see
him on a
couple of the film cartridges that they used to project for the public.
He seemed
like an interesting man. I wanted to use his office at the OC-Org just
so I could
read all of his books. To learn the Tech. But my time there was too
short and
my income too meger to be able to get too involved. Now that I have
just enough
to pay my housing and utilities, and have to depend on food stamps to
live on...
that is even less of a chance.

I am not an SP or a Squriel, as I said, I left on good terms. But
I at age 38
am still very ignorant when it comes to SCN. But if the CoS does not
want me,
I still want to learn about SCN, fully and completely. But being just
some poor
guy, that is not going to happen. I have pleaded with every Org that I
was involved
in and nobody wants me. Just a wasted asset. They must have seen
something
in me before, because I dealt with all of the bank deposits and records
of a
"Saint Hill" size Org even in the late 1980's. But being poor and
being in a wheelchair
seem to cut me off from them. It is their loss.

So if you want to unload any SCN materials (heck even a SCN cross
or a clear
bracelet, or even a bust or picture of Ron)... you have a place where
you can dump
them. My address is listed below in my signature.

But only once I have gone from ignorance into the light of
knowledge, will I make
up my mind about SCN. I will reserve judgement until I have a chance
to fully examine
more than just "Book One" and volume ZERO of the Executive course (that
I had to
borrow from the OC-ORG FBO since I could not afford my own... and after
nearly
20 years I do not remember either of them to any great extent).

Another thing that was funny, was that my IQ score dropped 50
points when I
took the SCN IQ test (I tested over 200 on most tests and was a MENSA
member,
but on the SCN IQ test I tested in the 150's.... strange, but it was a
very short test
and not a professionally given multiple hour test, it was just given to
me with a
time limit to mark answers on a test sheet). But that may just have
been the fault
of the limits of the test, since the lowest I ever scored on an IQ test
was 176).

Again, I will not be Pro-SCN or Con-SCN until I come out of
ignorance into the
light of knowledge. The internet gives only very basic information.
No real Tech.
My experience in SCN was positive. But again I was not in it that
long. Since
no Org wants to help out someone with a true thirst for knowledge of
SCN, because
they can not pay and they are not willing to allow me to work it off...
I have to depend
upon all of you to teach me. I have learned that people can be so
polarized on the
issue, that it is hard to say for sure who is right and who is wrong.

I grew up a Roman Catholic of Jewish Heritage (my mother's side of
the family
escaped pre-WW2 anti-semetic Europe by entering the Roman Catholic
Church
and coming to the US). I was born in Anaheim, California but I still
have to be
"shown" (like someone from Missouri) before I can make up my own mind.

Both the Catholic and Jewish traditions have been strong in my
life. I would
not give them up. But just as I do not judge the entire Catholic
Church for the
actions of some of the clergy (I am a survivor of rape by a priest), I
do not condemn
SCN for people that are a little bit out there.... for every "Tom
Cruise" bouncing
on Oprah's sofa... there are hundreds of "Chick Corea's" who are geuine
and
caring people who are not that wild. I think that there are "clay
feet" with any
system of faith. I am ethnically Jewish, Irish, Scottish, Polish, and
fully an
American... raised under an Orthodox Roman Catholic and an Orthodox
Jewish
tradition... and I would give up neither. But if I can get something
out of SCN
through LRH Tech, perhaps that is something.

But I do wish to make up my mind about SCN from the light of
knowledge
and not from the shadows of ignorance. Either the LRH Materials will
stand on
their own as valid Tech or they will fall flat due to a lack of logic.
But I can only
learn that for myself.

So if you have any materials that you want to get rid of
(especially hardcovers,
since I tend to be pretty rough on soft cover materials), I would very
much appreciate
them and be blessed by your assistance. Then I can learn for myself
which side of
this issue is truly correct.

If you want to learn more about me feel free to visit the links in
the "signature"
at the bottom of this mesage.

Shalom Ha'Shem and ARC,

John

On Hubbard, you might keep this judgment about the man in mind:

[Quote]

In addition to violating and abusing its own members civil rights, the
organization over the years with its "Fair Game" doctrine has harassed
and abused those persons not in the Church whom it perceives as
enemies. The organization clearly is schizophrenic and paranoid, and
this bizarre combination seems to be a reflection of its founder LRH.
The evidence portrays a man who has been virtually a pathological liar
when it comes to his history, background, and achievements. The
writings and documents in evidence additionally reflect his egoism,
greed, avarice, lust for power, and vindictiveness and aggressiveness
against persons perceived by him to be disloyal or hostile.

The official cult view is:

"Psychosomatic illnesses such as arthritis, asthma, rheumatism, heart
trouble, and on and on for a total of 70 percent of man=3Fs ills=3Fand
women=3Fs too=3Fare the reaction of the body against a painful mental image
picture."

A minority of scientologists carry this further, considering any
disability to be a reflection of the individual's mental state.

> But being poor and
> being in a wheelchair

Since cult recruiters improve their stats by finding marks with money or
dupes who will work for no wages, they would lose by wasting time on you
in your present life.

> Another thing that was funny, was that my IQ score dropped 50 points

The normal IQ test is aimed at the majority of subjects. As a MENSA
member you would have answered almost all the questions in a normal test
correctly. To determine your IQ you would have needed to take a special
test (such as the one I assume MENSA itself uses) with more difficult
questions which the average IQ subject would mostly get wrong, or not
even understand.
So when the cult test said '150', that really meant 'at least 150'.

Scientology Tech materials are widely available on the Internet nowadays
(allegedly). You would have more chance of finding them through the
Freezone than here, where most posters think they are rubbish.
Teaching is only one side of Scientology of course, the other is
Auditing which since scientology is a small and scattered movement might
be more difficult for you.

Hi John,
This below I posted a few weeks ago. Its someone new to
scientology, a Christian, and he is using the LRH book " Self Analysis"
to audit solo.
( no auditor required) . You may wish to join Freezone101 or
FreezoneOrg,
from the URLs at bottom. If you ask for spare copies of books you might
get
them. I've seen that happen before. Otherwise E-Bay and " Abes Books"
can be really really cheap sources.

TECH outside COS: Beginner on Self Analysis

So you know I just recently got a copy of Self Analysis, and today I
began my first ever self-processing. It's really wild, because I have
only run the first list in the book (twice), but after each time I
felt so relaxed afterwards. I will probably move onto the next list
tomorrow. Any advice you can give me?

subjects. The forum website also has a couple of dictionaries
